Hello from ProjectComment
All in all, I have to say that this is an amazing piece. As with my fellow member of ProjectComment , I really like the contrast in colour between the pirate and the fairy. I also feel this contrast does a great job of conveying the two different worlds they come from, be it the more chaotic and rogue life a pirate would lead, or a more calmer, caring life of a fairy. I do also very much like the detailing on their various clothes; the folds on the trousers and sash on the pirate are nicely done and have been greatly amplified by the shading on them. The design of the fairy's clothes is also wonderful, with the various types of petals for her skirt and the leaf bra; they help give her a natural, "I come from the forest" vibe. I do also like both the detailing in her hair and the gradation from a green-cyan to blue.
I can't really see much in the way of faults with the piece. I do feel the stage left hand of the pirate looks a touch weird. I understand the fingers are meant to be on the other side of the branch but it looks like he either doesn't have any fingers on that hand, or there is a hole in the branch he's slotted them into. I also feel the back leg on the fairy may be a touch too straight from the knee to the tip of the toes. Someone else pointed out a similar mistake to me in a recent piece, which is why I felt it stood out a little more. I attempted to make the pose myself but couldn't comfortably do so as my foot felt strained. I could be mistaken (as I said, I only noticed it as I had drawn something similar), but I believe maybe tilting the foot maybe five to ten degrees to the stage left would fix that. However I do also feel both issues are issues are nitpicks at best and don't really detract from the piece.
Finally I do very much like the simple background. While the lack of detailing may contrast a little from the level shown on the two people, I do like how you've managed to achieve it through the shading. I also feel - as pointed out by others - it doesn't "over power" the rest of the picture as it doesn't draw focus away from the two characters.
All in all a wonderfully done piece.

Thank you so much for taking the time to comment on this piece! I'm glad you like it. You're right about the fairy's foot, thanks for noticing.

You're welcome.
And no problem. I'll admit I did wonder if I was mistaken myself, as I know it is possible to get the foot in a similar position.

Im not really into fairies but this a very good piece, I love the simple blue black ground, and I love how the characters interact. The tree could possibly use some bark details, but never the less it is beautiful, the anatomy of the males right hand is a little off, meaning the forearm looks a little short, but I love the colors this piece is awesome. it keep up the good work.

This is on behalf of , so here we go.
I would like to preface my comment/critique with the following statement: I love the supernatural but I am somewhat afraid of faeries, this is nothing personal and no one is to blame except perhaps Russell T Davies. Now onto the piece: the background is very minimal which can work when you don't wanna draw focus away from the subjects in the piece, which in this case is the two characters. In contrast to the characters when we look at the tree we can see that the detail is less focussed and toned as it is just part of the background and thus done rather minimally which makes the characters stand out in another more subtle way and draws focus where it belongs.
Now onto the characters themselves, we have a fairy (or Pixie) and what I first assumed to be a dark elf but looking at the ears I am not so sure what he is but with those boots and that belt garb he strikes me as a kind of buccaneering pirate kind of fellow which brings me to my key point on why I like this piece: the contrast. Not just with the level of detail between the background and the focus but also between the two characters, they couldn't look more different and they are connected by the apple which the dark elf pirate fellow seems to be offering. As said before the dark elf looks quite pirate like with those pants and boots (and no shirt) whilst the fairy (or Pixie) is very much close to nature in fact she is close to nature in the most literal sense given her bra is made of leaves and her dress is comprised of large flower petals. They are stark opposites and yet they have come together in a very beautiful image.
So then, in conclusion the minimal background serves to put more focus on the more detailed and toned characters and their contrast and subsequent link through the apple just looks beautiful. I would be very keen to know more about these characters if only to know if I call the lady a fairy or pixie and if the gentlemen is a dark elf pirate. Beautiful work it must be said.

thank you so much for taking the time to comment on my work! They are indeed a fairy and a pirate, but nothing to do with dark elves (although I can see why you thought that). They are characters from a Roleplay Game in Neverland (Peter Pan's universe).
