Please do not use the horribly inaccurate kangaroo stance. It is unlikely that any theropod dinosaur would ever do such a stance.

Therizinosaurs and certain types of birds such as penguins would say otherwise. Besides, Spinosaurus is differently built than other predatory dinosaurs.

This pose might be very accurate for Spinosaurus. The fact that it's hind limbs were so short but he couldn't walk on all fours (because no theropod can) make movement complicated. So there are two possibilities left: this pelican-like stance or the pangolin walk. Since theropods are so close to birds (I know non-coelusars weren't THAT close, but still) I can see why he chose the pelican.

Is there any particular reason for this sail shape? This is the third time I've seen it. Anyway, this is a very cool depiction of Spinosaurus!

That shape is based on the research by Andrea Cau, Scott Hartman and Jaime Headden, who came to the conclusion that the tall spine from the holotype was a caudal spine, not a sacral spine.

Interesting, I'll keep that in mind when designing Spinosaurus for this:

Thank you for telling me about this !

You're welcome! But notice that Ibrahim et al. haven't given their statement about this, neither did they explain why they put the spine back to a sacral location in their reconstruction.

Oh, I know, I'm still going to wait a while before actually drawing Spinosaurus just in case the current depiction is off (whether it is the exact length of the legs or the shape of the sail).

Brilliant. I totally agree with that view of a quite upright posture.
