My only problem with this scene? Apples aren't native to Japan. Apples were introduce and cultivated during the Meiji Era (Samurai X/Ruroni Kenshin Era), not the warring states period of Inuyasha. Actually, since Inuyasha, the character, is 200 years old, this scene may take place even before the warring states era.

I love how you did InuTashio. Some of the comics that i've read have his personality a little on the Miroku side than anything. People forget that he IS a demon, even if he has a very soft spot for humans, he could still woop your butt into place.

Again, your color vs. black and white... So amazing! This looks very good in black and white and, though I can imagine this in color, it definitely makes a more powerful drawing with the apple as the focal point in the image, but also in black and white. I NEED to stop commenting on your approach to color.

Sorry for this weird question. I'm sure you receive so many comments you can't shift through them all in one day but I was wondering...why did Inuyasha and Sesshoumaru's father act so harsh towards Izayoi in this page? I think in the Inuyasha movie he really cares about her. He tried to protect her when she was having Inuyasha(I think o.O)

The Inuyasha movie also portrays them at the end of their relationship, which by that time of course they're in love.
I'm exploring how they might have been before all of that. It would be much more interesting to me if he didn't fall heads over heels right away.

Wah! This is clearly a fatherly parallel to when Sess refuses the meager food offerings of Rin. Here, the Lord of Dogs is disdainfully knocking aside the offer of an apple by the human woman Izayoi. Sess, as a young (and thus, impressionable) demon, sees this cold behavior toward humans and is conflicted. A son looks to his father for guidance, but Sess's father is disrespectful to his mother as well as cold to a human. What guidance can he get from this sort of behavior? Can he still respect his own father, despite knowing that this human has lured him away from his own mother?
In those days, a Taisho, or Daimyo, or Shogun not only would have had mistresses in addition to his marriage, but such activities were *expected*. But then I have to wonder, did Sess's mother marry him out of love, or was it a strategic alliance. Given how unconcerned she seems to be when she speaks of her husband's laisons with humans, I really have to wonder if that is not so. I could imagine that she bore him a son to consummate the marriage in the eyes of all onlooking. But when he took up a mistress, she would have found it almost preferable until she discovered that he was chasing a lowly human. This would have been an insult to her, her son, and their whole clan, AND it would have shown him to be weak and flawed, especially in the eyes of his son.

wow. an analysis. You could compare the apple to all those things, and there is truth in that too. You'll have to keep reading on though.
As for the whole Mom/Dad/Izayoi thing, you're probably right. We also don't know though if youkai mating and marriage works the same way as humans or if they usually only have one partner at a time. Whatever the case may be, I always thought Sesshy's mother was mildly amused if not somewhat baffled by the Inu no Taisho's choice in new bedmate.
