So I've been watching some of =purplekecleon 's livestreams lately and well tried out the painting style that she does. I didn't do the exact same thing she does with making some spots colored with the pen tool and stuff. I tried my own way. She had a tutorial on how to do it but watching was how I learned. Sometimes, tutorials just don't cut it. But this was actually the third picture I made doing this. First one was crap and I plan on getting rid of it and the second one isn't done. I wanted to do something smaller and more simple. So this is where Saran came in. My Lanturn in Heart Gold. She is very pretty, no?Lanturn © Pokemon/ Nintendo/ GameFreak

seriously how do you do this ??? DX ive been trying to digitally paint like purpkec too but i can't seem to do it. maybe its cause im using photoshop or what... any tips? ps. I tried to digitally paint and did a lanturn too ;D

Yeah from what I've heard, photoshop isn't best at digital painting. Well I have heard that CS5 was made for painting though. Paint Tool SAI and Corel Painter were made for it, more so with tablets. But this kind of digital painting doesn't require a lot of layers or a crap load of filtering. Just a few hours and maybe 5 layers total for the experienced digital artist. Sometimes less than a few hours for some people.
But really, it's a good difference in shading and shines that define everything nicely. Especially when it comes to lineless pictures. Though I still need more practice with the style.

thanks for the helpful reply XD sigh i guess i really should giv SAI a try i really cant find any good painting brushes on CS3 and its really hard to blend colors nicely. well i guess i just hav to practice a lot more, amazing work, i really admire your skill C:

OoO, pretty yoshi!!!!!!! I love the effect you made on this one, sometimes using other people's styles adds a creative twist to ur stuff 8D. I love the way you made the glow and shadows, fantastic!!

Yeah I saw that you had a journal saying that your livestream was offline. I would've come but was at Ashura's because today was her birthday. Then again, we always hang out on Wednesdays too. But I'll try to catch your livestream next time.
