Personality:
Gabrielle loves to explore the wilderness and enjoys the physical challenges and natural beauty of the outdoors. Towards people, her initial aloofness comes off as detached and impolite. She is awkward and wary towards new people as a result of her social isolation as a child, but is naturally curious of others, especially animal hybrids (she's never met one before and has doubts as to whether they exist or not). Trying very hard to overcome her shyness with strangers. She's comfortable in the solitude of her long stays in the woods, but enjoys the occasional company and is always eager to share her knowledge of the forest with anyone who shows interest. Loyal and honest with the people who can get close enough to her to break her bubble and fiercely guards their secrets. Once you get past the tough outer shell, she's an open book with no mystery to her.
Gabrielle is overcritical and tends to set unrealistic standards of performance for herself. She has a stubborn outlook towards achieving her goals - once she has her sights set on something, she does not change her course easily. Has simple dreams (living off the grid a mud hut, making lots of friends). While Gabrielle thinks of herself as harmless and approachable, her intensity and serious appearance work against her in her attempts at befriending people. Though confident on the hunt, she can get overwhelmed and clam up when thrust into a strange crowd. She really really wants to make a great first impression, but the words get stuck halfway out her throat and twist on her tongue.
Gabrielle considers herself as just another cog in the ecosystem, serving the role of predator. She loves animals and keeps careful steps to preserve the local population. Extremely attentive of her environment. Believes part of respecting the hunt is to use every part of the animal from hide and horns to offal. Her (untested) mastery of advanced survivalism and bushcrafting techniques is the result of a years of diligently studying off of nature documentaries and a tattered copy of My Side of the Mountain that she forgot to return to the library when she left her hometown.
History:
Gabrielle grew up in a tiny village in the mountains, surrounded by wildlife and not much else. From an early age, she was expected to work for her place in the community. Her upbringing instilled her with a deep respect for the environment and the preservation of the natural balance of living things. Learning the bow was an obvious answer to the need to provide and contribute sustainably to a town in which modern technology had not quite taken to yet. To Gabrielle, archery is a living tradition that connects her to the ancient human instinct and a great source of pride.
The remoteness of the village and the harshness of the surrounding terrain did little to attract much in the way of travelers or tourists. Effectively trapped in a bubble, her only escape from the monotony of every day life was the town's small library, a short stack of adventure novels and how-to books in the back of the grocer's stand.
The sudden appearance of an invitation to Toffee Town in her letterbox is what shakes Gabrielle out of her routine. She falls in love with the brochure's promise of new faces and a slew of wonderful new experiences miles away from her stark surroundings. Over the next few days, she quietly packs her few belongings. Noone else would understand - noone had left the town in generations, and why should they? They had everything they needed here, sheltered from the confusion and conflict of the outside world. Her neighbors were sure to try and convince her to stay - so she made up her mind to sneak out under cover of the woods.
It takes a week for Gabrielle to make it to the nearest city large enough to have a station, where she boards the final train to Toffee Town. Several failed attempts at bonding with her fellow travelers later, she settles into her seat and forces herself to look busy, eyes burning a hole into the pages of her book. As the hiss of the steam whistle dies down and the train pulls away from the platform, she begins to have second thoughts about leaving her hometown. Starting a new life from scratch isn't turning out as easy as her stories make it out to be...
SPRING E8: Hammering out the Kinks
For Gabrielle, joining SoufflΓ© Smithy as an apprentice represented a natural progression of her journey towards becoming a fully realized and self-sufficient sportsman. The crudely hewn stone tools and traps she worked with certainly served their function, but lacked the kind of refinement that could only be learned under the guide of a master smith. Though inexperienced, the direct connection she has with her work shows in the keenness with which she hones her freshman technique. Gabrielle spends much of her time at the shop obsessively iterating on her designs for her hunting traps and snares. She continues to spend her off hours hunting game in Waffle Woods, testing the efficacy of her creations on the local wildlife.
Additional Info:
+ Her dream is to build and live in a self-sustained mud hut in the forest. Hasn't thought through the details yet.
+ Has never seen the ocean, but is fascinated by it! It's so shining and beautiful and endless! The seafood curry on the train to Toffee Town made a huge impression on her.
+ Always chooses "rock" in rock paper scissors.
+ Has an iron stomach trained from years of eating questionably fresh game meat and meat by-product.
+ Favorite genres are historical fiction and educational/how-to. Is the type to re-read a favorite book over and over until the pages fall out.
+ Superstitious and takes a collection of cliche good-luck charms (including a rabbit's foot and an alligator tooth earring) to every hunt.
+ Rather than an onion, she's more like a coconut.
+ Lawful Jock alignment. Sorted into Gryffindor. HS classpect is Heir of Doom.

I'm most comfortable with drawing/comic/hc > lit/semi-lit > script logs!
I prefer casual fun topics, slow-burn, and rivalry. I enjoy playing the supporting role to my rp partner for character development.
***I love to write one-sided crushes/unrequited feelings (your chara to mine, or mine to yours) and prefer to write friendship/animosity over romantic relationships. If you specifically want to write a romantic rship let me know!! We can see if our charas are a good fit :3 18+ only please!
