Because his only companions in his childhood were his cat, his nanny, and a handful of lawless street kids, Roca relies heavily on his instincts and uses learned politeness to make up for how often he gets in trouble. Like a badly socialized dog, he is very curious and innocent and thrives on attention and company, but he can retaliate very sharply and violently if he feels threatened. Luckily, he's dense as a rock and insults will usually simply bounce right off him. He has a straightforward and pure/naive way of thinking about things and has a tendency to invade people's personal spaces unless he is expressly told not to.

Though he likes to be friendly to everyone, he takes a while to warm up to strangers and still has a shy side despite being very energetic and excitable. In general, he is very social and loves to prank and joke around, but cannot carry a logical debate for beans and will rationalize his actions based on his feelings instead. Roca has never met his parents. Though he was never explictly told this, his parents were in the mafia and had ties to Macau's prominent casino scene. For his own protection, Roca was raised in an isolated environment by a nanny who taught him all his manners and schooling. Other than that, he was nearly always left unsupervised and alone inside the house, and not allowed outside. If he acted out, he would be punished by being locked in his room. He was schooled strictly, but after he finished his lessons he was allowed to take the house cat into the yard to play, where he'd then often sneak out to try and hang out with the local kids. His limited exposure to other people left him shy to speak, eager for attention and very impressionable, and he would often steal money or gifts from home to give the other, poorer kids in an effort to please them. As he grew older it became more apparent to him that he was both admired and excluded not only for his privileged background, but also because of his chromatism and developing powers.

LIVED IN: Germany

When Roca was 13 he was sent off to a prestigious boarding school in Germany, but he ran away to befriend a group of colorist street urchins who scraped up their survival by commiting theft and petty crimes. As tolerance by the cops began to wane as they grew older, they found themselves running for bigger criminals because of their powers and began to turn toward increasingly dangerous illicit activities to sustain themselves. Uneasiness began to spread amongst the group, and the members began to drift apart and lose their comraderie. Eventually, their numbers dwindled. At this point, Roca got involved in a big bust on the leader's orders and ended up getting injured. By chance, he collapsed after breaking into a stranger's house to evade arrest and was unexpectedly nursed back to recovery. That stranger's name was Morgan ( 's character) and they have since become very close friends.

This incident was a turning point for Roca, who was then 17. For the first time in his life, he had faced real consequences for his actions. He began to consider a different life, but it wasn't easy getting out, and he simply wasn't willing to let go of what he considered the only meaningful relationships he had. He stuck with his friends and found himself stuck in the middle of their ever-rising conflicts, until one day they all went their separate ways. Alone and not knowing what else to do, Roca continued to get into trouble with the law, until at 19 he was finally apprehended and told that he could avoid being prosecuted if he agreed to be sent to Chromatica, where he had a better chance of turning his life around. Old habits die hard though, and the criminal big guns he had helped out in Germany gave him leverage to gain access to join Chromatica's mafia, where he is currently a member of the RO faction.

JOBS:
By day, Roca is an employee at the government office where he had been assigned to do community service. Due to his good behavior and friendly nature, he was rewarded with a regular paying position after the duration of his parole. But behind the government's back, Roca uses his position to access classified information and pass it along to the underground, and makes most of his living by information-trading.

As part of RO, his powers aid him in carrying out the occassional assassination. However, his main contribution is in gathering and relaying information, where, in addition to his government ties, his casual presence and adaptability makes him successful at going undercover.

-accelerated strength and speed (can be used in bursts but with relatively low endurance)
-breathing control (ability to hold his breath for an extended time e.g. under water or to play dead - overuse leads to drop in body temperature and delusions/hallucinations rather than typical cerebral hypoxic injury, so he's likely to avoid using it)

-gifted with super balance (can run across wires, land on his feet from a high distance etc. - fails to work if his inner ear has been damaged in any way e.g. by loud noises)
-specializes in black market smokebombs (which is what he's holding in the closeup) and also a few drugs/poisons (most likely made by Morgan) - he keeps these inside the caps on his vest.
