Sepia photograph of an ornate Gothic styled water fountain at a crossroads
in one of the historic towns in south-west England.
To paraphrase the card caption -
During the Victorian era, the area regained some of its old celebrity from its Roman spa
heyday thanks to its mineral rich waters, rising at the foot of the Tor - the conical hill
of Arthurian legend, Ynys yr Afalon. Its apparent curative properties were noted by
the gentry and the style makers of the times and Glastonbury became the hot place
to migrate, meditate, and medicate.
