Description
There were two things in Starship that pushed me to the verge of tears: Taz's "damn you" lines at Up when the Skeeters were killing him, and Bugette's death (curse you Lauren and your ability to get me right in the feels!!)

Just because the musical ended on a happy note, I doubt the story really would have finished there. I doubt Dr. Space-Claw would allow Junior's death to go unpunished. Well, maybe he would...But I think he'd have some sort of grudge against Bug for getting in the way of his plan for complete galaxy domination. These characters take place in that "post-musical" timeline.

"Newborn bugs devour the nearest mammal for nourishment."

Bugette may have been killed, but Bug was saved by her children (according to my count, there were about twelve of them.) These are the first two, whom I have named Buglee and Junior, all grown up (Roach referred to Bugette as a caterpillar in "Beauty", so her grown up kids are butterflies)

Buglee is the "oldest" (they all hatched around the same time, but from what I remember of my grade three class, not all of our caterpillars grew at the same rate, so that's exploited a little, as they are alien bugs ) and the spitting image of her mother. When the time came, she was assigned to be an Alien Ambassador, due to her involvement in the eradication of "the alien invador" (as I shall now refer to Human Junior, to avoid confusion.) She's one of the kids who doesn't like the hero treatment, since, as she puts it, they were newborns and just doing what came naturally. She blames Bug very little, believing it was entirely her mom's choice and understands the whole loving someone but not having them love you back situation.

Junior is the second oldest. Yes, he was named for the alien invador, which was actually his own choice. He has an intense hate for humans, and chose the name to remind him why (like he'd ever forget, but he isn't the brightest firefly in the hive). He is a fighter through and through, and was assigned to the military, which was formed shortly after the attack on the planet. (The Bugs are peaceful creatures, but the invador's attack made them realize they should be prepared, just in case.) Junior is specially trained to be an ambassador guard (I like to think Taz trained him). Junior despises Bug with a burning passion for being so cold to his mom, letting her throw away her life, and then carrying on being happy with a human after she has passed on.

I've only been able to come up with two or three more kids other than these two that actually have personalities and/or names (Sweetheart: The youngest, who was wounded by the Zapper's lazer and passed away while she was still a little caterpillar; Kick: A younger, happier version of Junior; A third, a female that has yet to have a name, who's the smart one). I figure two or three could be assigned to nourishment (their own choice, more than likely, since the OverQueen would be unlikely to do that to "heroes" when there are other, less impressive bugs to have for nourishment)

As far as the picture goes...Anthromorphic puppet bugs are harder to draw than I though. I like Buglee's original sketch. She's much thinner and curvier, and her antennae curl forward (that's the one main distinguishing thing between Buglee and Bugette, aside from the caterpillar/butterfly thing >___>) I don't really like the design on her wings, but I wanted it to be cutesy and lovey-dovey as Bugette's undoubtedly would have been. As far as Junior's design goes... I tried to make him a little darker and less showy of a butterfly. Originally, the upper part of his abdomen (I used to know this word, and now I don't...) had a tuft of a brighter color (maybe the pink or the yellow, I don't know...) but it wouldn't make for good camoflauge, so I left it out. I much prefer his wings, with their simplicity... The grey comes from the tufts around Bugette's eyes.

I have sketched other Starship things, not just OCs, I promise. I just haven't scanned anything. But I do really like these characters and the idea behind them... I really do think Bugette needs more love, and I'm glad her memory can live on (and haunt Bug).

These things would be evil to make puppets for...

I also think that the Starkids probably had way too much fun attacking Brian with the hand bugs during rehearsal (I am not intending for that to be read as a dirty statement.)
