Description This is the last of 5 pieces I did for a friend in Israel. She's a belly dancer so that's what I tried to create in my pieces. No comments on their conservative appearance please! In traditional belly dancing, only women were present since the dance form was for encouraging fertility.

Each of the 5 dancers represents an element of the Eastern Zodiac (Rat, Ox, etc….)

Here’s a little insight into it that I got from one of my favorite books on the subject, “The Handbook of Chinese Horoscopes” by Theodora Lau:

Earth: color is yellow (weird, huh?), season is end of summer, weather is humid; associated with the sense of taste and the spleen. Those born in a year ruled by Earth are very practical and prefer the solid and reliable pursuits. They are blessed with foresight and organization skills, so they’re good at business management. They like to keep things in perspective and will give you the truth undiluted, without frills, retouching, or modifications. On the negative side, they can lack imagination, and can be a bit pessimistic.

EDIT: Those are mountains behind her... I couldn't think of another way to represent Earth 'cus it refers to the land/soil not the planet.

I'm not personally from Asia. I was born in New York, but my mom is from Japan. My dad is American, and New York is where they met. I guess that's one of the reasons I like the anime style.
