Description Made this little doll for a one year old girl that is the daughter of my roommate's friend. I don't know to much about Doc Mcstfuffin except it's a Disney children show about a little girl who repairs stuffed animals since she wants to become a doctor when she's older.

There is quite a bit of detail on her, and it's not exactly correct since I was limited by my yarn stash and her hair kinda defy's gravity. I may give her a little smile since I feel like it's weird that she doesn't have one. I can't really tell you what yarn I used since it was all stash.

I might make some of her little stuffed animal companions if I have time before Sunday.

:-P I know I do too, but I can never stand the shows aimed for really young children...like the Wiggles >_< But Yo Gabba Gabba gets me sometimes...unsure why....I think because it's mega lame but yet enduring.

Was this knitted or crocheted? I'm such a dummy on the difference. But I do agree this is beautiful, and also I bet it's snuggly.

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to kikistone [2013-12-15 00:00:25 +0000 UTC]

It's crocheted. You can tell by the stitching since crochet is kinda a bumpy circle-ish shape while typically knitting is usually a v shape. Hope that helps a bit. But thank you I'm sure the little girl will snuggle with it once she gets it

I guess they can add a bit of charm XD but then again I just like having an issue with something in my art haha.

She looks amazing! And I'm in deep admiration of her hair, I agree with another commenter on that, it's great and I have no idea how you did hair so well, I am envious. :3

Thank you . Here is a link to where I learned how to do it owlishly.typepad.com/owlishly/… . Although I didn't fully follow it since I attempt to read it but just didn't make much sense so I just sorta followed the pictures. Which lead to a bit of a mess up in the back that I think I should post now since I want to show my mistake . But it makes hair look fantastic!

Oh, thank you for the link to the tutorial! I'll have to sit down and read through that and see what I can make of it, it looks really neat that way. And hey, mistakes happen until you get the hang of something!

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to MCalhen [2013-12-15 02:40:33 +0000 UTC]

You're very welcome It is rather helpful, and I agree it makes the hair look a lot more natural then just latch hook hair on like I usually do. I agree Mistakes means I'm learning

Wahhhh~ Look at that hair! I still don't even know how to sew hair on like that! The doll looks great!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to xxtiffiee [2013-12-14 14:06:39 +0000 UTC]

It's really not that hard to do. I learned the technique from owlishly.typepad.com/owlishly/… . Basically all you do is make a hair cap (it's simply the hair color to go over the head of the amigurumi, this allows the strands to blend in better.) Then I just sewed the hair on...not really sure how to describe it. I didn't fully follow the pattern since I didn't want to read, which lead to the back being a bit messed up . But thank you! I'm glad you like her.

Ahhh I saw that tutorial plenty of times before, but the only thing that went through my mind was that it's too much work to do But of course, it'll be worth it in the end!

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to xxtiffiee [2013-12-16 05:02:52 +0000 UTC]

Thankfully it has pictures since I attempted to read it and I just couldn't understand it. But it's really not that bad, the wost part is making the head cap in my opinion. But yes, it is SO worth it

xxtiffiee In reply to YarnHoardingDragon [2013-12-16 06:59:49 +0000 UTC]

Really? It seems more like sewing the hair on would be harder!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to xxtiffiee [2013-12-16 16:21:30 +0000 UTC]

It isn't, it's less time consuming then latch-hooking the hair like I used to do. The only problem I cam across was that on the top of her head the hair wouldn't lie flat but that is mostly due to the fact that my "hair cap" was made slightly incorrect.

xxtiffiee In reply to YarnHoardingDragon [2013-12-17 04:04:18 +0000 UTC]

I made a doll once by latch-hooking the hair; it wasn't a pretty sight

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to xxtiffiee [2013-12-17 04:11:50 +0000 UTC]

I did too...it looked alright but the poor thing's neck couldn't support it's head. I gave it to a friend since she really liked it for some reason O.O

You could probably see about some sort of contract with Disney or at least a Disney store or some other place to sell the doll made that way. It would be a new approach.

My own little girl would've started singing the theme song to the show if she'd seen this

YarnHoardingDragon In reply to Usako89 [2013-12-15 00:08:57 +0000 UTC]

I've thought about doing something like that, not necessarily Disney but it would be a nice company to work with. I might have to look deeper into that. Thank you

Aww that's so cute, I really don't know much about it but I think I might just watch an episode so I know what it's like since it seems like a super sweet show.

Usako89 In reply to YarnHoardingDragon [2013-12-15 04:28:22 +0000 UTC]

You're welcome.

The show is sweet. Doc treats all types of toys. Granted the names for the 'ailments' are ridiculous in that cute way but considering her patients are toys it works.

That's nice to know, but it's is something I would expect from a young child's show. Ridiculously cute works for them

That it does. It does have little morals and lessons too though. I actually got my little girl to drink more water because of that show
