Description Sedna the Inuit methodology sea goddess.

there are many interpretations of the myth, the one mine is based is where "Sedna was a beautiful maiden who was innocently lured into marriage by an evil bird spirit. When her father tried to rescue her, the spirit became angry and caused a terrible storm which threatened the very survival of her people. In desperation, Sedna's father threw her into the raging sea."by stabbing her in her arms while she clinched to the boeat and her blood as she fell into the sea turned into sea creatures. [link] )

I know her, too. Thanks to two animated series from Canada. Inuk and Woompa's World.

I heard the tale where while they were escaping Sedna's bird husband, her father threw her overboard, then when she grabbed back onto the boat he cut off her first set of knuckles (which became seals). She reached again, and he cut off her second set of knuckles (these became otters). She reached yet again, and her last set of knuckles were cut off (these became whales). She sunk to the bottom of the sea, and despaired so much that she became ugly, so ugly that only the inuit shamen could look at her. Part of the reason for her ugliness was because she had no more fingers, and her only friends were the sea creatures she'd created. Anyways. interesting how these myths have different variations.

i really, really like this one. the colours are vibrant and eye catchin to the different aspects of the piece. i love how you incorporated all the different parts of her story into the piece; the red blood, the orange crows, the blue ocean, the whales and dolphins and narwhales.

well done!

and you've done it so successfully that instead of all the elements appearing like seperate pieces, they've all fed into the picture.

Wow... so beautiful. I love how you manage to transform things-- like the blood into fish. The mismatched body of the girl is wonderful too. Somehow, it still looks natural and normal even if it is abstract. (ps. I'm am eternally jealous of your ability to draw/paint hands.)
