Description Trying a new way of doing my art... Instead of "inking" my "pencil" drawings (ie tracing over with a darker and less shaded or textured line) I'm just coloring them as is. Then I go back through and touch up the lines instead of drawing new ones. That way I can keep the textures and shading that I like in the picture. Of course, it's a pain in the ass to erase all that, but I think I like the quality of the picture better.

Ummm, about her... I think she's one of my angel girls. You'll be seeing a lot of them... They're normal girls with angel wings, though are the wings really there? Can anybody actually see them? *throws hands in the air* I don't know! Piro draws Sad Girls in Snow, I draw Dead-Eyed Girls and Girls With Wings. She looks VERY vaguely like the angel from a story I played with for about a week before I realized it was crap and put it out of its misery. She's unusual for me because I normally draw characters with dark hair and darker complexions. I tried really hard to make her as pale and fragile-looking as possible.

Again, used Corel Painter. Pencil for the lines, oil-brush for most of the color, with a few dabs of acrylic-brush. As I get better I want to try adding more details and backgrounds, but I don't like over-working a picture. I'm not good enough to balance details and the simple, natural feel I like in drawings. Most of the artists I like are heavy on lines (not big heavy lines, but lots of lines) and a sort of organic style to their digital art. I'd like to be able to do that, but it'll be a loooong time....

And now, in the (totally random) order in which they appear on my favorites: my favorite artists.

Haradaya - [link] - Famous for "Phantom Brave" and many others, but everybody seems to know that one
Okama - [link] - Famous for "Cloth Road," "Top wo Nerae! 2" and many other smaller works
Akitu Taira aka "Cowbell Tiara" - [link] - Not famous, though he should be. He's done lots of small works and has a wonderful mood and feel to all of his pieces. One of my absolute favorites.
Miwa Shirow - [link] - Famous for "Dogs." According to the notes at the end of the first book of "Dogs" it took him 2 years to do all of the art. Two years well spent, since it's some of the most incredible art I've ever seen.

These people are my ideals. If I can be more like them I'll have succeeded. In the mean time, baby steps.
