I was sad not to see yours in the semifinalists. besides myself, your piece was the one i was rooting for, it seemed like the judging in general was silly as hell, all my favorite pieces didnt make. I still think this was a very awesome piece.

IDk. i didnt think there were that many good ones in there..they were bland and its like all these different styles were picked for diversity and not for skill or creativity.

Yeah, I get what you're saying. Who knows how they judge those contests. It's not the first time it happens to me. There was even a previous contest for which I didn't win either, but one of the winners shared a part of his price with me cause he felt I should have won. Later, my illustration for that contest was selected as a Daily Deviation (a user had suggested it because she strongly felt I should have won). But, for some reason, it wasn't good enough to make it to the top 3 in the contest.
After each contest I enter, I tell myself that I'm done with contests on DA, but every time there's a cool one, I can't help giving it a try anyway. But I can't complain much, that's what a contest is after all: just a few winners and a lot of deception for many many others.

Is there some sort of process sheet you can show? Very nicely done! One of the few in which I see the overused bow and climbing gear, but it fits nicely as a composition and works overall. GL on the contest and congrats on your freelance career (sorry took a peek at your DA page

this is so what the entries should be, so many photoshop retards cluttering up the gallery. im realy getting pissed with how they designd the bow, should have been a normal recurve. lov this man best of luck

Yannick, this is great, you handled the water very well, but I find the rock textures to be a little too distracting. I would of toned them down personally.

oh sorry your highness, your to good for deviant art. im not a huge fan of the site bug it like to plant seeds and its a good way to do it. photoshop retards are the hundreds of people who flock to these competitions to submit their "art" and end up creating an image that is the exact opposite of what the site asked for. they usually use photoshop and do a horible job. i am fully aware that this image was created through photoshop and my original comment, to the artist, remains. think before we type and this doesn't happen, K?
