I choose Sith. Mostly because The Sith are honestly a lot better when you think about it. True they're dark but at least they let you have girlfriends and don't force you to die a virgin. Plus let's face it. Dark Side Abilities are more badass than Light Side Abilities. For example Force Drain. Literally has the power to drain entire planets of life which Darth Nihilus showed very clearly! And before you say as a Jedi you can possibly be a Force Ghost. Let me answer that by saying is that REALLY a good thing? Being stuck in the Universe as a ghost for the rest of eternity?

This is going to sound like I'm sparking a debate, but I have a lot of problems with the Jedi Code. If anyone's watched the YouTube video by the SuperCarlinBrothers:Β Star Wars Theory: JEDI ARE EVIL, then you know what I'm talking about. Don't get me wrong; I love Star Wars, but I think the reason so many people, myself included, buy so much more into the Sith Code is because it's literally the path we take every day to overcome obstacles and achieve success. There's nothing innately wrong or evil with the Sith Code and the mentality it instigates; you essentially set your mind to something, dedicate yourself to it, work hard at it, and you'll eventually achieve success. It's only when the goal itself is selfish where it goes wrong and the person becomes evil; the code itself, though, remains valid. Really, the only change I would make to the Sith Code, if any at all, would be to change the first line from "Peace is a lie" to 'Futility is a lie", so it would be more accurate.Β

However, the Jedi Code is very exclusionary. It basically says you must be calm, never stop being calm, always be logical, never show any emotions, don't have any emotions...about the best thing it encourages a person to be knowledgeable, but as is said in the movie Clone Wars:Β "I should think that you Jedi would have more respect for the difference between knowledge and wisdom." You see in the movies that the Jedi are very flawed, coming across as very cold, very indifferent, not wanting to get involved with the affairs of the rest of the galaxy; the only reason they stay involved in Phantom Menace is because the Sith are involved, they don't care about Padme taking back her planet from the Trade Federation's hostile invasion. They don't even do anything about the slavery situation or the criminal syndicates of the Hutts that rule the Outer Rim; in the 10+ years that took place between Phantom and Clone, you think they could have done something about that, but nope; not their concern. And don't forget that the whole reason Anakin Skywalker turned into Darth Vader is because of love, something virtually everything else in existence has told us is a good thing, but which the Jedi absolutely forbid; let me say that again: according to the Jedi, LOVE is a BAD thing. That alone should tell you something is very wrong with the Jedi.Β

Because of this, I count myself more a Sith than a Jedi as the Sith Code is one we all follow in our day-to-day lives; it doesn't call us to be selfish, but it does encourage us to become better and improve ourselves so that we can accomplish our goals. I do follow the Jedi Code as well, but the original Jedi Code: "Emotion yet peace; ignorance yet knowledge; passion yet serenity; chaos yet harmony." This one calls for balance over the black-and-white exclude-this-embrace-only-that which the modern Jedi Code represents. The balanced code makes far more sense and serves as a much better moral compass in how to live one's life than the modern code, and is far wiser in my opinion, saying "accept the things you can't control, but do not let them overrule you."

Between the Sith Code and Original Jedi Code, I believed that if people followed these together, instead of picking one side or another as people often ask and demand of you, we'd be a lot better off, both as individuals and as people on a whole.Β

"I think the reason so many people, myself included, buy so much more into the Sith Code is because it's literally the path we take every day to overcome obstacles and achieve success."

The evil in that resides in the acceptance we make, of following this code to put harm on others.

As for your views on love, you are wrong, but it is because you have those evil traits that transpire in your judgment.
Being calm and above his emotions is the key to overall good : by mastering your emotions, you know when to brake, when you're about to cause greater harm than good to your surroundings. It's the key to understanding the world and the need to improve it.
As implied in the KotOR series, the Jedi do not involve in politics because they're always the fruits of ambition and lust for power of over-emotionnal, "evil" beings.

Also, you talk about the Jedi, representing Good and Peace in the saga, do not involve in the matters of the galaxy. That's because it's always the fruit of unmastered emotions.
Love is forbidden by the Jedi for this sole reason. And Anakin's unability to master himself (toppled with Palpatine's devilish influence to push the scales) is the picture-perfect illustration of them being right.

But I guess your name isn't far out of connection with yourself, right ?

Jedi of course are flawed, they're after all living beings. But their conviction to help others is what makes them noble. You must put yourself above the problem, be selfless and put the others before yourself.
The Jedi do not believe love is a bad thing, however, atachment leads to the fear loss and fear is the path to the dark side.Luke allowed the members of his new order to have personal relations and never forced anyone into his order and even that backfired sometimes.
And if I'm not mistaken, Qui-Gonn and Obi-Wan were sent to end the situation in Naboo even before they faced Darth Maul. That's without mentioning that there's literally a whole corp of Jedi and padawans whose sole mission is getting involved in such conflicts.Β
There's also the fact that the base of the Sith ideology (even of the pureblooded sith) is that the strongest shall rule over the weak. They believe that being able to use the force puts them above all living beings and that they should therefore rule them, and that's also the reason they hate the Jedi, because they are so weak they choose to aid pathetic life forms unworthy of living rather than using the orce for personal gain. To them, power is the only thing worth respecting.

Lets be honest everyone who say theyre "Sith"h is self worshipping and all about themselves like the sith. The jedi put their selfish desires aside and help others. I can relate to the jedi code more. As a christian we have no OUR agenda, our agenda is God's and we want What He wants. Sith people on want what they can get and wallow in their self righteousness much like ppl of today. They dont rlly care tht your hurting and only strive to fulfill their own desires. And the darkenss not only amps your darkness you have in your heart presently but opens other doors as well. You'll find yourself soing things you've never wanted or thought you could do before. Like sin makes you pay more than you wanted to.

No offense, but your comment sounded pretty uppity and opinionated. If you wanted to come off sounded like a Bible-thumper, you hit the nail on the head. I won't argue that Sith like Palpatine/Sidious are evil and deserve stopping, but don't go around sounding like you're so high and mighty because of what you believe. They may be theories, but they make sense, and the Codes can still be applied to real life, even if they do come from a work of fiction. I'm Christian as well, but even I can admit the very same thing could be said about lessons from the Bible.Β

If you didn't mean to come across the way you did, then it won't be held against you, but try to be a little more thoughtful with your comments to avoid more incidents in the future. And if you feel attacked by my response here, then I apologize as I don't mean to come across as such; I merely have a problem with people who believe or try to come off as better than others for what they believe and try to push those opinions on others. Love can be a selfish thing as well, so not all selfishness is innately evil, and the outright forbidding of love by the Jedi is just something that does not sit well with me being a committed man myself.

If you have no hard feelings on your end, then no hard feelings all around; I'd just like to see a world where we all live together and accept our differences, not simply tolerate those who are different because that makes us so much better for some reason.Β

The gray jedi code, or the bogan dark jedi code

Bogan:
No peace, only suffering.

No serenity, only passion.
No harmony, only chaos.
No life, only death.

What about:
There is Emotion, There is Peace.
There is Freedom, There is Control.
There is Ignorance, There is Knowledge.
There is Passion, There is Serenity.
There is Chaos, There is Harmony.
There is Death, There is The Life.
There is The Force ("extra line"and through you chains will be broken).

That there is emotions, and that you need to feel them to control them.
That there is always freedom of choice in your life, but it will affect others.
That you will be ignorant, forget and make mistakes, but you will relies that you can never stop growing or learning.
That there is passion in your life, a drive that makes you live, but also the ability to contain that drive, to use moderation.
There will always be chaos and war in the world, you will have to accept that, but you can change the lives of many with you actions.
That beings will die, nothing you can do will change that, but there will also be the life, and new life will be born and create their own future.
There is the Force, and through it you will exist forever.

This is something i just saw in my head right now, so if anyone has any comments than please share so that i can correct the flaws.

huh, interesting...

I don't really understand the underlying meaning of this code, but what i gather it something like this?
They mean that there are no absolutes, only what you yourself do and believe in?
That there are always two sides of a coin, and that everyone always have both dark and good in them?
That you should always respect others, and behave honorably?
That only you yourself will hinder yourself from your true potential?

Is it a warrior code?

I believe Lena-Stormwind is referring to the Jenessaries, who were the royal guards of the Ottoman Empire. They were plucked out as boys from their families and were trained in the ways of the sword, politics, and the Islam faith (obviously since the Ottoman Empire was a Muslim Caliphate). They had a strict code of honor that was to be upheld at all times. To say that a Jenessary had betrayed the Sultan or betrayed one of his own was anathema to the people of the Ottoman Empire. They were the stoic, honorable, deadly protectors of the realm.Β

Sound familiar?? (Hint hint wink wink)

I like the sith lords better, but for real, dont think that you can associate with the sith rules. The rules here make them look watered down and simple, but theyre not. Would you be willing to kill innocents to gain power? Would you willingly harm people for victory? Most likely not. If you do, you need some professional help.

For everyone who's more inclined to Sith ideals, stop saying it. almost everyone is especially in this self-worshiping society we wallow in. The Sith pulls you in and the darkness corrupts your soul, the Jedi is perfection unreachable and ever present, if you're not striving for light, you're falling to the dark. once you understand that then decide what you want to be.
