What first strikes me is the exposure, it is well done, for sure, I would consider giving it a little pop with the curves however.

Generally as a rule of thumbs, shots taken in this composition seldom work well, however, you have a shot here that is an exception I feel, I love how the edge is sharp, you can almost feel the texture in it. The depth in this is outstanding.

I can certainly see you running with this style and I HIGHLY encourage you to explore more with it.

I tried curves out and well I did not like it for this shot it changed the color to much how ever may be I am not using curves correctly

Stunning texture, yet it seems to be velvet / red carpet texture. Almost sensual because of deep red(definitely my favorite color) Thanks for sharing. Very well executed.

Good lighting is the key to a good macro shot or a tripod and good shutter speed for the situation

wow, aside from being blown away by the macroness, very nicely composed. the little white triangle at the bottom does become a bit distracting after a few moments though. has it been cropped or is this the full image?
