Ah, Lunar the Silver Star/Story...... It is truly amazing how this wonderful RPG game(s) can hold so many memories for me and my best friend Danielle .....Anyhow, forgive me for getting a bit nostalgic everyone. My friend Danielle and I first found ourselves caught up in the world of Lunar in the Spring of 95..... Perhaps that is a bit of an understatement.... Rather we were both utterly and completely immersed with the original RPG on Sega CD; so much so that it inspired us on many artistic levels, along with some added inside jokes on the side....
Months later we were then in love with its sequel, Lunar II: Eternal Blue..... I suppose the rest is history from that point on..... 
Even today we both find that this game holds great sentimental value. It is quite obvious for my friend Danielle epseically, as many of her greatest works are related to this series, as well as her fanfiction based upon the plot and its characters, as seen in her gallery and writing.As for my painting, however, I simply felt the need to express my own love for the games of Lunar. In this image I have depicted the main characters from the original game Lunar: The Silver Star; as well as its remake, Lunar the Silver Star Story. In terms of concept, the image is rather simple. I only wanted to paint a cute image of this couple, one that illustrates the fun relationship they had prior to the emotional, epic battle that they would soon encounter throughout the course of the game.
In short, Luna and Alex grew up together, even living together, but found that they developed deep feelings for each other over time; feelings that would guide them through their incredible journey. It is a deep and poignant love story that quite literally affects their entire world..... For more information on that, play the game if you haven't already!!! It's SO great!!
But getting back to the painting, though Alex and Luna do feel strongly for each other, I always felt that Luna in a sense had the upper hand on him. ^_^; She would lightly tease him at times, get worked up in anger over something that Alex seemingly did or said, and she would occassionally display a bit of jealousy too. Though the image is a happy one, with the two of them dancing together near a familar Lunar landscape, I thought that the stepping on Alex's foot would be a subtle indication of that portion of their relationship. 
As always the image was painted in opaque water color.

Such great work here.
I recently replayed the original ps1 game. I forgot how tear jerking yet heart warming that game was. The bond between Alex and Luna was great. I always wished we had another game with them and see how life was after their adventure. Seeing old Luna in Lunar 2 was very sad to watch, but it was great knowing that she and Alex remained happy together.Β
I find it really odd how some people compare it to incest since they grew up together, which is so dumb. They are not related and it's classic story telling with childhood friends growing closer. The point is that they were always destined to be together.
Anyway, great work and I'll always love this game and these two together.Β

I really need to get back and finish this game, honestly though I hate Luna, and she has a rotten personality. She's always seemingly pissed at Alex, constantly guilt trips him whenever he wants to do something( e.x. going to the cave), gets incredibly jealous of her brother's possible future relationships, and is also at times really stupid... how could she mistake a guitar for an ocarina?

Thanks for commenting, and yes, I would recommend finishing the game and it's sequel Lunar Eternal Blue is they're both wonderful. I'd have to respectfully disagree with you about Luna though as I thought that the bickering with Alex was more playful than anything.Β They've known each other since they were small children so I think their interactions reflect that.Β And besides, a LOT happens to her throughout the course of the game.Β If you don't know how the story ends, you may feel very differently when you do finish it.Β Check it out!

Recently, I found a copy of this game in my house. It was a Playstation version with a booklet, a soundtrack, and many other things (even a map). I just connected my PS2 and started it last night. I'm currently in the cave of the White Dragon grinding my level (if there's anything I've learned with RPGs, is that it's best to grind your levels as you travel). I love the animation so far and it reminds me of anime shows like Fairy tail and PokΓ©mon. So far Null is one of my favorite characters, and I like her (is Null a female?) remarks and comments (like with cats).

Yeah, I've gotten further in the game since I made my first comment. Now I'm in the sewers of Meridia trying to take the dragon diamond from the thief. But I've been having a hard time with the thief's "pet." His pet has some attacks that can K.O. a party member in one or two hits, even at level 15. So I've been grinding some more on the surrounding monsters.
The reason I first mistook Nall for a girl was because of his extremely high voice, especially in the beginning. But one of the first signs I found of him being a boy was in Saith. I found out it was fun to talk to various animals and people, and when I interacted with a cat in Saith, I got a hint that Nall was a boy. The cat said, "Meow meow." Ramus said something about all the cats in town seem to be female and that they liked Nall. Nall then calls the cat a bad kitty. That interaction caused me to burst out laughing.

I'm glad you're enjoying it the game. I still have fond memories of playing through it myself.Β Nall is just a baby right now, so he does have a squeaky voice.Β I think that's supposed to show how young he is, as he has a different voice altogether in the sequel game Lunar: Eternal Blue, which you can probably find on ebay or amazon.com.Β I think it is actually a woman voicing him in the first game, though sped up similar to the method used in Alvin and the Chipmunks.Β You've still got a long way to go and you'll meet many more characters along the way!

I hope there's a lot more to go because I don't like it when RPGs have short story-lines. Take Final Fantasy 7 for example. You go through 3 disks before you reach the final showdown and you learn so much about each of the characters. So by the end you bond with the characters and feel what their long journey is like. And if you have a great story, you don't necessarily want to end the game out of impatience.

There certainly is a lot more story, don't worry.Β I don't think you've even met the assortment of characters yet, Kyle, Mia, Nash, Jessica and etc.Β There is quite a bit of story, and to me I felt that it was rather fulfilling to see it all unfold.Β And remember, there is also a sequel game that has a storyline that is just as intricate if not more so.Β I didn't have any complaints about the storyline myself so I think you'll be pleased with the way it turns out.Β I even got a little teary eyed by the game's end.

I've met Nash already, but not the others you mentioned. It may be a while before I get the sequel though. Do you remember the thief when you first enter Meridia to sell the Dragon Diamond? Well I'm down in the sewers, and I'm having a hard time killing his pet. Do you have any tips to help me defeat his "pet."

The GBA remake, Lunar Legend, was my first exposure to JRPGs, other than Paper Mario. Β Suffice to say, the many versions of Lunar hold a special place in my heart. Β This picture nicely captures the key relationship of the game.

That is beautiful... I remember first playing this game... such epic tale.... I got the PSP version and graphics are good for it. I also like Jessica and Kyle.
That game has so many wonderful characters. I'm kind of surprised not to see Nall.

Happy New Year to you, you are very talented! I liked the sequel but not as much...but it was still really good. I liked all the characters the only thing about the game that bugged me is that you could not level up the secondary characters beyond a certain level like Ramus for example.
I will check out your friend's work...Alex and Luna are very special... I would have loved to have seen an Anime for them. Maybe some adventures afterwards with the rest of the gang!
