Description *steals the title from the track since I be so unimaginative*

While sorting through the unfinished sketches folder, searching for what to complete from the never ending pile, I came across this - a bad doodle of poor Marche and Montblanc (and a veeeeerrry bad bangaa X'D ). Ehem... the washes were so very bad (and glaringly bright too! ack!) that I just HAD to work upon it.

And so! when all things look bad, scribble upon them with a brown pencil to make things even worse! XD

Medium: Bad watercolor washes on parchment with brown watercolor pencil

Actually, out of all the four games - Final Fantasy Tactics, Vagrant Story, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance, and Final Fantasy XII - methinks I liked FFTA the least. After the high political drama of the other three... the ending of this one was a wee bit disappointing. But even then, it was nice!

And oh meh.... I loved Montblanc! (moogles! squeeee! and one who could take up a mechanic or gunner job class! )

(And Marche was nice too! He seemed like a cross between Ramza and Ashley Riot! )

Marche, Montblanc, Random Bangaa (c) Ryoma Itō,
SquareEnix, Final Fantasy Tactics Advance

[Wa..... submission procedure change again?! So many catagories... O_O]

Montblanc: Back off. I got a gun and it's loaded, kupo.
Judge: *TWEEEEET*

Ahhh. The sounds of the judge's whistle STILL horrifies me. XD But I've gotta say, Gunner job is really worth the effort of getting! You got all these moves to toast your enemies. This may be a cheap strategy of winning but my personal favorite abilities are definitely Stopshot and Charmshot. It's a cheap strategy but it's amazing. XD And besides, if the debuffs don't work, the damage sure will. And don't get me started on using Ultima Charge with a gun. XD

This art just always makes my day though. Every time I try and look for FFTA fanart, there is no doubt I will come across this and laugh at it. XD This is very impressive too! Well done with this!

VERY nice, I love the dynamics and simplicity of it... you really pulled it off
And I know you say you're not very happy with it, but what you may call mistakes actually looks like an intended aesthetics. It just looks like it's the style of it, not that it looks bad

The feel of that made me think of like a comic book for some reason, then it made me think of the book at the beginning, which led me back to the battle when you first meet the best moogle ever(Montblanc)!!! Did you know that the inspiration for Montblanc's name is a Mountain in France? Well, atleast i think it is, I seen that there was a mountain around that area named Mont Blanc (or something to that effect, been awhile since i seen the name) and it thought of him!

I know it's been mentioned, but as soon as I saw this I thought of the very first battle in the game, where Montblanc basically has to bail Marche out. I think you captured the feel of that battle perfectly

aaaah! I can't believe it! All this time I thought I've faved this! >.<

hehe, commenting again; since I've been playing FFTA2, I've started searching ffta fanarts again and just happen to stumble on this again! XD

moogles with guns=win! XD Can't get enough of that Stopshot!

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2008-08-09 10:44:22 +0000 UTC]

Oooooh! Stopshot! I still don't have that. How far are you into the game (if its possible to tell without spoilers... :'D) My moogle fusillier ran out of skills to learn so I've made him into a canoneer for now.

I'm actually liking FFTA2 more than its first part actually? It feels more fluid, more fun and the music be amazing! XD (and surprisingly, this time round, I'm appriciating nu mous and viera's more than moogles! Maybe because my only moogle so far is more of a supporting gun wielder?)

(Ehem... I went off on such an excited babble that I kind almost forgot to say... thanks for the fav! X'D)

arashi-yukawa In reply to Yakra [2008-08-09 14:57:12 +0000 UTC]

the bazaar is quite annoying XD I'm already at the part where, um, if the page on the upper screen is an indicator, then I have only 3 lines till the ending! D: Noooo! Don't end yet! how far are you?

ooh yes FFTA2 feels more fun! >w< the side quests are so addictive. I appreciate vieras and moogles this time, while my favourite used to be nu mous and vieras... I used to love illusionists but they're not very convenient if you have to start with 0 mp! XD because in the beginning there aren't so many clan members while equipments keep coming, my first viera can actually change to any job now! XD~

Oh, have you met Hurdy? He's sooo adorable >w<
hahaha, you're welcome

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2008-08-09 15:32:45 +0000 UTC]

So Hurdy remains a 'he'? I thought that was a typo!!! I just reached the bit where Luso sees him/her performing at the pub. Haven't accepted the quest yet since I'm busy doing all the side ones. (I'm assuming this is not a spoiler for you since you already mentioned him/her!) I want to meet Montblanc! And I want Vaan and Penelo in my party already!

Yip, illusionists are so inconvenient now! X( My viera (I'm still using the one who was there with the clan from the start - infact all of my usable characters are like so!) can pretty much switch to all the magic based jobs. She's like my red mage/elementalist/(and for now) summoner. While my nu mou has a turbo mp support and blasts people to smithereens with his black magic. XD I love those two guys!

I'm wondering if there are some 'hidden special characters' this time like Lini? Those guys were fun to find last time!

Oh... oh! And the judges can be a pain too. X( Some of the conditions can be pretty ridiculous. ('No attacking units weaker than you!' What the blah?! My entire party is levelled up waaaay more! )Though I still prefer it more to the older system! I always felt to guilty running to the jail and bailing my characters out. Made me feel like an utter criminal that did! X'D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

arashi-yukawa In reply to Yakra [2008-08-09 15:59:04 +0000 UTC]

I guess... yeah, I think Hurdy is a 'he' : P Montblanc appear sometimes in the background, did you notice?

..Who is Lini? D:

I had to laugh when the law says Forbidden: Harming Females when there's a gria in the enemy party! 8D I prefer the old one too... I prefer getting caught like a criminal rather than having to obey "No moving more or less than one tile"! XD I hate "no harming the weaker than you" too >.< Sometimes it's easier to break the law right in the beginning of the battle

Adelle is quite confusing at first! I kept forgetting that she's a female hume, not a viera! X0

Eeeep... late reply!

So after you mentioned Montblanc popping up here and there, I started paying attention and there he was! XD That was so adorable! I've gotten Hurdy now and was doing the sidequests when I actually did bump into Montblanc! Did that happen to you too? (In... Flurogis?) He's starting to look more and more like a moogle Balthier!

Oh, oh! And Hurdy was a girl in FFXII! Seeeee....? --> [link]

Lini was one of those hidden characters in the first FFTA. Do you remember reading the stories/quests about the brave hero Gaol and his sidekick Lini? Somewhere along the way, he joins up if you follow certain steps. (He looked like a normal moogle knight, but actually had some extra special skills. There were others like him too!)

Yeah that happened to me too! That scene was so adorable... and nostalgic!

oh, that's Gurdy... I think I read somewhere in the web that Hurdy is Gurdy's twin.

Oooh... I didn't get him! >.< Or could it be that I didn't notice and refused him from the clan? D:

So far there's this one character you'll get if you finish a series of continuing quests, I don't know if there would be others or not... I like the stories of those quests! :'D

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2008-08-19 12:06:11 +0000 UTC]

...

Ooooohh... I'm so stupid! Ofcourse there was Hurdy! Why did I think Gurdy the chocobo rancher was Hurdy! >_< Hurdy was one of the moogling operators! (And to add to my airheaded stupidity - how come I never noticed the poor guy even though I had his pic saved?! D': )

I... don't think they're twins though. Montblanc has 5 brothers and sisters? X'D

I was reading up on chocobos yesterday and noticed one doesn't get Montblanc till after the game ends! Nor does one get Penelo or Vaan till then! Pooh! And.... one other thing I realized yesterday (I don't have the original copy of the game [and so, no pretty manual/booklet with character info]), Luso's homeroom teacher is Mewt?

Ehem... I'm really eating off your brain by my daily, overly excitable discoveries... XD

Sidequest stories are fun! I liked the House Bowen ones the most so far!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

arashi-yukawa In reply to Yakra [2008-08-19 14:57:38 +0000 UTC]

hahaha XD Maybe because they have similar names?

huh? nooo Montblanc >.< So we could only use him after the game? nooooo :< Oh but I got Vaan and Penelo already! the point is to walk around right before the last line on the top screen! I walked around and see a red exclamation mark and ta-da, it led me to vaan and penelo! XD

It's okay, I'm actually glad I have someone to share some FFTA excitement! My siblings aren't so excited about it, so I have no one to talk about it (I guess it's better for them, FFTA is too time consuming! They might forget about school! )

I like the House Bowen story too! Mack ones are pretty memorable too

(how come I didn't see this before )

woww you made Montblanc so cool it's the scene from their first encounter right?
I'm replaying this game by now... XD since I could only play GBA and only a few games... but this game's awesome why do you think the ending is disappointing?

first .hack, now this, why I've been into stories with escaping from reality as the theme?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2007-07-14 12:00:39 +0000 UTC]

It's the summer! It's putting all 'escape from realities' ideas in our brains. Heh... it's pretty funny though, since I was first obsessing over this (or more specifically Montblanc and moogles in general) and then .hack!

Yip, its a scene from their first encounter! Though back then Montblanc was just a mage, the moment the gunner class popped up, I ran towards it (dragging along poor Montblanc XD). Moogles with guns! (Mechanic moogles!)

While I didn't mind the ultimate ending of the game, the main one was a slight bit disappointing... Maybe it was because Marche just seemed like a pale copy of Ramza and Ashley, and even later Ashe? He had all the righteousness and just-ness, but no real cause? I mean... it didn't make sense - though this world be better, and you all have gotten all that you ever wished for, we cannot stay here forever just because I say so? So seeing him go and defeat Mewt's mother was just not as... satifying. Poor Doned. Poor Ritz. It didn't help either that none of the others agreed with him..

Ah... long rant. Sorry!

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

arashi-yukawa In reply to Yakra [2007-07-16 15:56:27 +0000 UTC]

I was first into this, too, but I've forgotten it for a few while, then replayed this game after watching .hack thus made me obsessed over FFTA again

the gunner class is wicked! they could shoot through walls with their skills!

I see... You're right, it didn't make sense. if anyone were there they wouldn't come back either. Maybe the story is a message to the gamers, that we can't escape the reality forever? XD I don't know, but that's what I thought while playing the game I felt so... slapped in the face
What happened after the ending was pretty strange, too, don't you agree? the ending story stated that the world returned to normal and everyone returned, but then we continue taking missions, as if only Mewt returned to the normal world

oops, I ranted too. XD

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2007-07-19 11:21:01 +0000 UTC]

Heh heh... most probably it was! Which, yes, did feel like a slap to the face. X'D I never thought about the strange thing about the second bit! It's sad! One never gets to use Mewt! (And so the poor kid who opened the way to this world never comes back to it?!)

I'm guessing that once they used the Gran Grimoire they could access old Ivalice whenever they wished, without being trappen in it forever..? But still... *wants Mewt in party!*

All things aside, I still loved the game to bits!

(Did you ever play Vagrant Story? Isn't funny to see the Gran Grimoire turn to pretty looking! XD )

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

arashi-yukawa In reply to Yakra [2007-07-19 13:27:21 +0000 UTC]

probably if we get to use Mewt, we'd be able to create and nullify all laws that would be fun! XD

Gran Grimoire? what is it? I don't play Vagrant Story XP is it good? what platform is it?

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Yakra In reply to arashi-yukawa [2007-07-20 10:43:27 +0000 UTC]

Oh yes that would! How I hated that sword penalty law! >_<

The gran grimoire in FFTA was the book Mewt bought, which ended up transporting them to old Ivalice. Incredibly pretty! In Vagrant Story, it's the the whole city of Lea Monde - it's basically a very powerful magical spell, though I can't remember what exactly it did in VS. Basically methinks it was so powerful, that in the end it brought about the destruction of the entire city.

Vagrant Story was an oooold game on PS1. Did you ever play it? It was made by the same people who made FFTA, and so, same Ivalice.
