Description Art trade with

Rebecca (as Chocolass) has made use of her powers against Flora.

Not a whole lot else to say, other than I think I did a terrible job on the background... but then after losing 6 hours of work last night, I didn't feel like going into so much detail the second time.

This background makes more sense than that one did anyway.

As always, criticism is encouraged,

I'd like to see wow! I can see a lot of improvement in your coloring and choice of color, especially so with Rebecca's fur, and Flora's hair. I can see a wider range of colors in the hair, and you can see a difference. Did you find that added the 'zing' you were looking for? The chocolate looks clumpy....but when you think of it stuck on fur on her muzzle, it really does well. Is she using dark chocolate? Sure enough, though, I wish I had a chocolate gun

I'm a little confused though about the light source. Is it from a ceiling fixture? Seeing the glowing blue area on the wall almost makes it appear as if the light is coming from the wall as opposed to an actual fixture. Perhaps using a thin color of yellow (or whatever color the light bulb is) on some areas to show a little more direction from the light. Of course, this should be used sparingly. Also, on Flora's chest. If the light is above them, Flora would still have some minor shading under her right breast. Even though you've shown a highlighted area it still look rather flat. By giving a little shadow under it will give it some dynamic interest. Something also seems a little off with the way Flora's upper left arm is shaded. Not so where the shading is, but more so where you've shown where the bit of light hits on her sleeve. It's the armpit area, and is right up by the breast, and judging by the breast drawn, a shadow is cast in that area. The only other thing I can think of is that it bothers me that Flora appears to not have feet. Although I know this is far from the case, her jeans really don't illustrate that they are just covering up the foot as opposed to Flora floating without feet.

wow, thanks much for the essay of useful info...

Yeah the light source does look a bit confused *gomen*
It was supposed to be coming from above, but now that I look more closely at the wall it should have been a bit higher on the wall.

Using a yellowish tone (rather than just varying shades of white) might be an interesting thing to try... I've not had much experience working with things that "glow", so maybe I should try working that into a future pic.

The lighting was screwed up a bit on her arm yeah... well at least I tried something a bit more dynamic... I'm definately going to have to pay more attention to detail in the future... I think getting some more ram for the linux box might help with that (I'd feel less pressure to hurry when things don't crash as often, or run as slow).

Her feet? Yeah I ran out of room and decided not to draw them... guess I'll need to try harder next time to either fit things in the page, or explicitly cut things off.

Again, thanks much for the criticism!

Lol, yeah, that was a long essay, wasn't it ^_^(). Truth was I couldn't see any problems at first and had to let it sit a while. But hey, I totally understand about that crashing thing.

*Random self criticism*

-She's missing a glove
-her arm and tail appear to be levitating in mid-air

Might have more later..

Good pic the only thing I saw was that she looked like she was setting in front of the sofa, in the air, insted of on it.

ah, right. Next time I think I'll just draw the background in rather than trying to add one digitally... I really suck at digital backgrounds.

Chocolass?
Good hero concept, in my opinion.

Great pic, love the colors! And the clothes and hair look really great!

Simple backgrounds aren't a bad thing. You'd hate to draw attention away from the subjects of the pic...
But maybe the background here is a little too simplistic. I think a door, window, wall hanging or something would bring the piece together and solidify thier location inside a house, instead of in a lovely blue limbo with brown carpet.

...
Man, I feel like I'm being a total ass, and I'm sorry... I really love your work! I'm just trying to give you some criticism...
And how, exactly, did you lose 6 hours of work?
At any rate, I feel for you. I've lost an hours work before, and came close to saying "&%^@ it!" and leaving the work unfinished.

Lol, good point... I usually do better with backgrounds when I actually draw them (I suck at direct digital creation only)

Also: chocolass/Rebecca is 's character (as is Flora, the other girl) so direct your appreciation for the character design in his direction

Thanks for the comments.
