Description
There's a silence that creeps into my bones.
It curls up within the marrow
& plays pretend when it does not belong.
It eats at neural pathways & split ends
with teeth of a crocodile & the smile of a wolf
it traced it's way through my lungs like smoke.

Resignation came as it took residence & settled
in the darkest reaches of my stomach;
where calms seas once stood, storms now rage
with a familiarity I just can't place.
