Description This is Jessica, she is a German Shepherd X Rottweiler. I adopted her a few years ago from my local animal shelter.

I had asked one of the volunteers there which of the dogs were in need of immediate adoption, and Jessica happened to be one of the dogs that was schedule to be euthanized that week.

When I walked up to her kennel she was barking very aggressively and lunging at the door. As soon as the lady opened it she ran and cowered in the back of the kennel. So I walked in and sat down next to her. She wouldn't even look at me she was so afraid. I knew right then that I had to take her home.

She was only 2 years old, the lady had told me she was dropped off there when she was just a puppy by a lady who had tried to train her as a guard dog. She was then adopted by another woman who left her outside all the time, and would just tear open a bag of dog food and throw it outside for her to eat whenever she wanted. So of course she did gain quite a bit of weight. When I adopted her she was about 40lbs overweight. After a couple months the lady decided she didn't want her anymore so back to the shelter it was. She waited there for around 6 more months, and then was adopted by another lady who just wanted to use her so that the shelter would build her a fence around her backyard. After the fence was completed she was brought back to the shelter again for another 6 months, until I finally showed up to take her home.

She did come with a lot of fear aggression, but now is happy to greet new people. She is now 60lbs and at her perfect weight. She lives with me, and my 4 other dogs. She absolutely loves her "babies" AKA my three little Chihuahuas and will take them into her bed and sit and clean them and play with them. Her best friend is my other rescue, Banjo (Border Collie X; 15 years) they hangout together lounging around while I'm at work, and if I ever leave the house with just Banjo, Jessica waits looking out the window until he comes home!

She is very much loved and will never have to worry about going back to the shelter again! I can't imagine my life without her!
