I’m giving this version of She-Ra a chance on Netflix. The characters look a lot more diverse too. I hope Netflix does the same with He-Man one day.

(inhale)... no.
If you say explain. OK. An Art mistake by the creators is the bracelets it covers too much of the hand. Making it impossible to move the wrist. I combat you will eventually have to explain that.
The complaint was the full upper torso had to be protected because the old She-Ra armor didn't provide enough protect. So they added shoulder guards that also provide no protection. That was stupid of them. An clearly a lie.
The Armor she wears itself with the burning symbol of Eternian fire is magical. Which in the new design does not look the same. Even in your artwork. You can easily mistake it for a flower.
The armor covers the neck. Making it very constrictive. So you have a sleeveless breastplate an biker shorts. Uh huh....
Then we have the Circle she wears. The wings of Eternia. Do not cover her ears. OK we can live with that. But look at the Original Art they made for her. Its like it was never finished.
Someone was suppose to put a flashy looking armor on it. But never did. An they just went with it. So there is just a gem floating there. You drew this an even you know. Something is wrong with the art of the original.
Despite the beautiful artwork you have done here. The new She-Ra Is flawed. Burn it with fire. You honestly can not make that look cool. The Fan made 2002 one looks better. Which also happens to be here. www.youtube.com/watch?v=asjyjQ…

Dear Dreamworks,
Couldn't you just apply the same formula you did with Voltron? (which has that Legend of Korra feel to it)
Or is this a Teen Titans Go version of She Ra? (like the Thundercats reboot)

the problem of the new design and that SHE-RA seemed to look like a transvestite boy, apparently using too much feminine desing could be considered sexism and vulgarization of the female characters. There is also the question of wanting to please the LGBTQ + public, because it is the choice of the androgynous look, the author of this new SHE-RA and assumed lesbians, this caused many to think that the cartoon was to become a liberal leaflet that promotes LGBTQ + , forgetting history and changing SHE-RA's sexual orientation. The writer is very good, researching about her early work and will see, of course she always approaches LGBTQ + themes in the works, but does not do it in a way that opens the work and becomes a flyer. But most importantly and no one watching anything yet, we'll have to wait out the episodes and check it out.

I am a man and I love her new design, she feels fresh, beautiful, for me is a true shame so many people is complaining, I have the sensation THEY are the ones looking for tranies, you know, blue painted eyes and hard red makeup for the lips, it seems that is what makes something look like a female.... sigh.
I´ll be drawing she-ra myself very soon, and I´ll try to convey what I see femenine on her, without losing the essence of the new design, I hope some people will understand then what is femenine about the new she-ra, I think there is people who watch cartoons, but dont actually like what cartoons are, for they fail to perceive the stylization that comes with cartoon, I think that could be part of the problem.

No, 'we' are not all 'dudebros' and i'm not shaming her nor expecting her to look like Jessica Rabbit.
personally would like to see her look like a girl, not like a boy with long hair. Look at her chest, her chin, look at her arms and the size of those hands. She is very masculine in appearance

If you look at female gymnasts, they have similar body shapes as her. Small but muscular with broad shoulders. It doesn't make them less of a girl or woman. I am a very tall, thin woman with large hands, does the size of my body parts suddenly make me a man? and its nice to see a female character that isn't the stereotypical "feminine" or dainty type in appearance.
There are many girls out there that look like this. Media has made men like yourselves think there are only two acceptable body types for women: petite and waifish or curvy supermodel. There are much more. She is a young teen in this version and does not need breasts or whatever it is you think will make her "feminine".

I never once mentioned breasts or any other sexual characteristics so please don't put words into my mouth.
Assuming I accept your premise how is it any better filling the show with unusual body types (Glimmer seems to have gone from being a slim young woman to an angry, chubby androgynous kid for example) and entirely neglecting more traditional ones?
Isn't that just replacing one type of unreality with another?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
peaachi In reply to Darianblood [2018-08-01 21:11:49 +0000 UTC]
Then for once just say what you really mean lmao. "Unusual" body type??? What was usual about the old She Ra's barbie-doll proportioned body with big breasts? Especially considering her character was like, 14. The new bodies are not unusual, they're just not what you dudebros consider attractive. Admit it. And that's perfectly fine, especially since she's still a young girl (around 13-16) in this iteration and we already have too many underage characters that grown men are getting off to. I'm so happy my little sister can enjoy a great childhood show aimed at her without adult men perverting it like they did with ponies and so many other things.
We're never gonna come to a consensus on this, so let's just agree to disagree. She looks like a girl to me and others. She doesn't look like one to you and others. But that's not the creator's problem. That's her design now and you'll have to either deal with it or simply not watch the show.

Darianblood In reply to peaachi [2018-08-01 21:38:40 +0000 UTC]
Underage? Ponies? Dudebro? Can you do nothing but parrot feminist talking points you read online?
Those bodies are no more usual than wasp-waisted hourglass figures...this is just exchanging traditional feminine body types for those approved by feminists (i.e unattractive ones). They are no more 'normal' than those they are replacing.
You'd be surprised to know that as a young boy i enjoyed both She-Ra and He-Man without perverting them but like any normal child i looked upon both of them as something to aspire to. Having heroic proportions made that easier. But it's going to be harder as to idealise the new versions as very few children will want to grow up looking like Glimmer!
Oh and i was never going to watch the show anyway, i'm just sad to see something i grew up with brought back in such a form. My final take on this is that i have no problem with any story being created to serve an agenda i don't agree with, i'd just rather they created their own stories and characters instead of taking established ones and ruining them. I dislike all reboots by default, but i'm willing to change my mind over respectful ones like Battlestar Galactica. This though? This is anything but respectful by the looks of it

peaachi In reply to Darianblood [2018-08-02 11:16:45 +0000 UTC]
lmao thank you for confirming what we already knew, that these complaints are really about your lack of sexual attraction to the characters. i pity you if you looked up to characters because of their "proportions" or appearance. i looked up to characters because of their heroic actions and values, as you dont need a certain body type to be a hero. most of the characters my friends and i loved growing up you would have hated/ignored because they weren't all white or shaped like models.
the majority of kids will love the new designs. you are inherently biased due to your nostalgia goggles and i highly doubt an adult male can speak for adolescent girls, who are definitely the target demographic. as a young woman with a 12 year old sister, i'll trust her and her group's opinion over guys like yours. and theirs is that they can't wait to watch the new She-Ra. ciao.

Wow, it's like talking to a brick wall with you isn't it? That's exactly the opposite of what i said.
But sorry, i guess i don't fit your rigid stereotypes of whatever you think a dudebro is so yes, i'll leave you to your happy delusions, it's clearly pointless to debate with someone who cannot or will not listen to divergent views.
I'll leave you with one thought that i doubt you will give any real credence to. What is so wrong with girls looking or acting feminine all of a sudden? It's kind of in their nature...
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
peaachi In reply to Darianblood [2018-08-02 20:21:39 +0000 UTC]
don't result to insults when trying to have a debate, i was perfectly civil with you. when did i say there is something wrong with it? there is nothing wrong with a girl being feminine if that is what she is. not all girls are feminine.
its in our biology to have feminine parts like a uterus and etc, but what's considered feminine behavior or appearance is entirely a societal creation. i personally don't consider myself feminine or masculine, im just me. i like some things that are considered feminine and some things that are masculine. i dont want to have kids myself, i rather adopt. i don't want to tie myself down or be a wife to anyone. that doesn't make me less of a woman. its entirely a choice and men refuse to respect that.
why do men demand that women have to look or behave a certain way in order to be respected or considered women? not to be crass but most men honestly make everything about their dick. nobody is saying you have to be attracted to non-feminine women, you just have to respect how they are and leave them alone. a woman is shaped differently and strong like Serena Williams she gets called a man when she's not and accused of "doping". blatant discrimination because she's not the type of woman they like.
why do boys have to be masculine when many are naturally gentle and nurturing? i wouldn't want my future son to grow up in a world where he is taught that its cool to harass women, judge them on their appearance instead of character, and that caring about people and being sensitive is "gay" (all things my older brother has heard). you can call me a "liberal sjw" or whatever, i dont care for dumb buzzwords. people are more than their gender and there is no wrong way to be a woman or man.
does that answer your question?

Darianblood In reply to peaachi [2018-08-02 20:38:06 +0000 UTC]
I never meant girls have to be feminine or boys have to be masculine, my point is that more and more we are seeing femininity discouraged in girls as though it were some kind of wrongthink in favor of pushing them to be more masculine.
Yes, we have only seen two girls in the She Ra previews but neither look remotely feminine
But Enough, i'm out of here. I've attacked your arguments rather than you until my last reply for which i apologize, while in your 'Perfect Civility' you've called me a dudebro and repeatedly implied that my only concern is whether she is sexually attractive or not. I'm tired of my points being misconstrued or misunderstood.
Believe me or not but i truly hope your sister enjoys the new series.

In my opinion the problem is not in the shape of her body. It is the character’s face that is too androginous. The reboot authors should follow the example of wonder woman or hire better artists. As it is the character does not convey the idea of a proud female warrior: she seems a poor imitation of a gem from steven universe.
