Description
It kills me not to know this but I've all but just forgotten
What the color of her eyes were and her scars or how she got them
When was the last time Kaneki had seen her?
It'd been quite a while, so long he'd forgotten things that'd been spoken between the two on dark, sleepless nights.
His mind could just vaguely make out the color of her hair, a pleasant shade of (h/c) that always smelled of lavender and strawberries.
She was a distant memory, -or something of the sort-, one that haunted him continuously.
Her figure would come and go, resurfacing once he was alone, alone with a permanent layer of misery that stuck to him like grime.
There is no reconciliation that will put me in my place
And there is no time like the present to drink these draining seconds
Maybe it was best that way, the only thing left of (y/n) was memories. No good could come of her seeing him like this, for what he was now. A monster. And even if he were to see her again, what would he say? What could he possibly tell her? Nothing, that's what. He wasn't afraid of dying but he was absolutely terrified of what would happen if he saw her once again. She'd hate him, hate him for being a ghoul, and hate him for leaving so unexpectedly. And however much he told himself hate from anybody wouldn't hurt him, he knew he was wrong. It tore at his normally numb heart to think that she would hate him.
Perhaps it was best he left it as it was.
He was doing this to protect those he cared for the most.
That's when she said I don't hate you boy
I just want to save you while there's still something left to save
A shaky breath left a shadow's lips, followed by soft tremors that raked its body.
She probably shouldn't be here.
Scratch that, she certainly shouldn't be here.
She only worked as an assistant at the headquarters for the CCG, nothing more, nothing less. God she was stupid, so stupid.
She could get herself killed, and because she wanted to catch a glimpse of the infamous Eyepatch. Or, as known to only a few, Kaneki Ken. She allowed herself to reminisce in her memories of the male, all while watching the chaos unfold.
Amongst watching the chaotic events below and her own sloppy thoughts, she failed to notice the approaching danger. That is until it was about two meters away. Once she heard the soft clicking of heels hitting the ground, she froze up slightly. Turning her head, she soon found herself staring at a slowly approaching figure.
"Eyepatch.." She murmured softly.
The figure stopped once it was only a few feet away. (Y/n) advanced only a couple steps, before stopping. If she were to get any closer, if she were to embrace her friend, she knew she wouldn't have the will to let him go. It was best she left as soon as possible, but before doing so, she allowed herself to speak.
"I missed you." Please don't leave me again. How she wanted to scream and beg, but she remained silent after those few words.
Their eyes locked, and Kaneki's previous regret in walking towards her vanished. She didn't hate him.
They stood there for a few more minutes, allowing themselves to take in each others' presence.
And after another two or three minutes, they left. With no looking back, no goodbyes. Goodbyes weren't necessary.
They'd see each other again, whether it be in a few days, weeks or years.
They would meet again and maybe without knowing so.
