I know, I've had several guinea pigs in the past. Two of them lived to be 4 and two of them lived to be 2. I have one now that's 3, but I don't want to get any more after her. Too much heartbreak when they go. One of the ones who only lived 2 years used to jump up in my arms.

I believe a normal lifespan for degus are 6-8 years. I adopted mine from another family though so I know they lived to be at least 7.
