In the comments by the creator below it is confirmed that she is a zebra/unicorn mix. I believe the appropriate term would either be Zebracorn or Unibra, depending on which species the father was!

Again I can't say for 100% certainty since I'm merely the artist, but yes, I would assume that saying she is a zebra/unicorn hybrid would be correct.

She's not exactly a zebra but one of her original bios had her have a zebra father.

I can see why! She's just straight up fun to draw. Her tribal stripes and color palette add a sort of wildside to the typical cute pony style. Wild+Cute=Ridiculously Fun Combination to draw ..or in my case vector, but same idea.

The gobble was the idea of the guy who originally drew her. It was a fun adition i might say! Yea... i didn't want crazy colors so i went with black and red my favorite. In the beggining i had the idea that she was a mix... a zebrican unicorn of sorts. Anyways they seemed interesting for her to have... so i put them in. In the beggining she had an overly grim past... so i toned it down. Btw the cutie mark is inspired by the Neverwinter Nights Eye. I thought it seemed appropriate since her skills involve "vision" (Illusionism and Divination).

That's another reason why I wanted to use Selune first, was because her "non-typical" stripes actually made sense, a Zebra-Unicorn mix doesn't seem that far fetched to me, plus her skills match nicely. I mean look at Zecora's skills with illusion in Luna Eclipsed, one could only imagine the crazy stuff she could do if she were able to use magic!
Plus the majority of OCs I see that have tribal stripes also have bat wings, devil horns, and fangs just to look demonic and nothing more, so to see the stripes used in an actual stylized character was refreshing. Also, I actually had no idea what her cutie mark was, I'd never seen the eye beyond random internet pictures, so it's nice to finally know what it actually is.

I actually like your version of the eye better... the "tears" part seems a little too far fetched. I never wanted to create an OC with crazy stuff on her. I like simpler stuff... horns and stuff are kind of ewww to me... i don't want to make a Discord guy.... Can you imagine Selune taking lessons from Princess Luna as her student? Also on another note Selune is another word for "The moon". But i am guessing you knew that.

Thanks, and I totally agree, I like OCs to be simple enough to be at least be plausible in Equestria or the surrounding world, and horns and snake eyes just don't appeal to me... although I actually have done a request for a female draconian OC. Btw, I actually had no idea what Selune meant, I think it's from old DnD(?), but I've never played any of the games so I'm probably wrong.
As for Selune taking lessons from Luna, I think it depends on the type of lessons. I don't really see Luna as having school-type students like Celestia (nor a protege like Twilight), however I can see her having a smaller group of specialized apprentice/student hybrids that also serve as her advisers on various aspects of the world they encounter on their quests. By that I mean she would teach her group ancient/ more powerful spells and knowledge that pertain to their talents. E.g. one student learns about ranged battle magic (archery-ish), while another learns environmental spells, while yet another learns ancient archaeological knowledge, etc, etc.. I could see Selune fitting nicely into the Stealth/Illusion slot, and could be Luna's "go-to" for reconnaissance/intelligence.. not like a spy, but like a "Ranger's Apprentice" of sorts.

Yes... Selune is the goddess who emerged in the creation of Aber Toril togother with Shar. Thanks for the info btw... i like the ranger idea. Originally Selune was a seer... kind of like an oracle or fortune teller of sorts. The eye at that time meant "looking into the future".

Both are cool, so why not combine them? A Ranger/ Arcane Illusion Mage would make for an incredibly interesting (and deadly) character skill-set and lifestyle!

Perhaps... she is adventurous that's for sure... in the RP i have given her the experience of an Archeologist. I did this with the thought that in order to do this you'd have to "find" "lost" things. Knowing of illusionism spells would allow her to recognize them if they have been used on ruins of wizards laboratories... and divination spells would help her "spot" details easily... But i dare say that ranger does suit her a bit... knowing how to "track" someone like a ranger with spells, and be able to "spot" the details make a nice relation with illusionism and divination.

Yea, lol sorry my mind always auto-jumps to combat abilities for an RPG, however a Ranger/Scout mixed with Archaeology would be pretty sweet as well, and the two would mesh almost seamlessly, especially for noticing and avoiding those pesky traps that ancient ruins are so fond of hiding. Plus, like you said, illusionism skills would work for both the attention to detail of an archaeologist and the "seeing without being seen" skill of a Ranger or Scout.

Yeap... anyways. She's the first char to be successfull in rp-ing in adventure RPs without nessecarrilly being tottally OP. It's mostly because i had bad RP company... one guy in specific just was too used to OP OCs and when we got bored and de-powered them... clop took the place of our problems. And when that wasn't there... his god-modding was there to make things bad.

Gah, I usually can't stand OP characters, every now and then it can be fun to mess around, but I prefer having to actually think some things through. God-modding always makes me think of that kid on the playground that would always have some sort of invincible force field or something that saved him/her from losing when we played war or magic duels at recess. XD

Now that i found the MLP forums i dare say this is much, much, MUCH better... plus i found some better persons to rp with before that. It seems that the dude was searching for the feelings that his first RP made him feel... we constantly restarted because of this. Like it wouldn't last more than 2-3 weeks each. Or less...

Geez, there's no way I would've had the patience to stay in an RP like that, you and the others must have had some uber-high patience levels to stay through that! But I can totally relate to the forums being better; here on DA it's virtually impossible for a little weekend hobby artist like myself to get any feedback, but the MLP forums Creative Resource section will almost always get anyone at least a few opinions, or if someone is good it may earn them a few friends. (In my case I met Rascal and all of you guys/girls in the RP!)
