The upper left section -which is the head and part of the hand - appears to be grey... or rather likely black with a wash of white over it. That is my favorite passage in this piece. Is it black with a white wash? Was it masked? Intriguing...

Did you consciously use a velatura technique on purpose, or do you experiment casually?

I experiment all the time and I actually don't use that technique, not much of a glazer. But I like that the work "tricked" you. I think that is a good thing.

The last 9 paintings you have posted are really showing a stylistic change that is very cohesive. I am thoroughly enjoying your technique, and watching your exploration. I hope you will be posting more delicious works soon.

I certainly have finished works yet to go up. And thank you about the 9. All those I produced in NYC. New works will be up early next month, right after my show.
