There's only one little problem with this, in my eyes anyway. I think that it could do with the bursts of light a bit more focused, and spread, not too much, but so you get the feeling that the render is probing into the unknown, which i feel this picture is saying.. Apart from that FANTASTIC. Keep it up, im waiting on my seat for the images released with Gaia!

type could use some work, it'd be nice to see a bigger res too. not really feelin' the lighting in this, or the wave filters. the 3d is decent though, looks kinda blurry.

Exhale-NL [2004-09-06 07:59:57 +0000 UTC]

Somehow I don't get an underwater feeling when I look to this piece... The colors are okay, but the brushing and lighting is just a bit "radom". What I excectly mean is, is that the background/environment is very dark, there's no light coming from anywhere (while if you look to an underwater photo there's most of the time a lightsource like the sun). You just placed some bright spots around and on the render... That's about it for the lighting. Then we have the brushing... Ok, it's wavy but I would like to see more of a foggy brushing. When you look to an object under water/in the see, you wont see it like when you see it through air. There's water between you and the object and you see this water as well. So for example, place a gradient on top of the layers (with light on the top right and dark in the low left corner) and play around with the blend options. Maybe this should work a bit
But the thing that realy bothers me is that you just threw a filter on the brushing and didn't look carefully at it after you did that. How I can see that? Look on the top in the middle...
The render is realy amazing... So much detail, I love it. (Or is it a render with other pictures blended into it? If it is, very good job because I can hardly see it). Good job on that.

Sorry for being a bitch mate, but I know it's hard to make an underwater piece. I'm just speaking my mind to help you.

O~h! Creepy.....it looks like giant worms or some other kind of creature are rising from the dark depths of the ocean to wreak havoc or possibly just eat some poor kid who's swimming. *hums the Jaws theme* Very nice, tho. ^^ Kudos to you and your friend.
