The first challenge: Design a party dress inspired by [link]

Well, obviously, the color scheme originates from the tree itself. You can see the implication of the leaves and the of the shirt has a 'serrated' part to resemble a maple leaf since maple leaves are very often the iconic leaf of autumn. The 'braiding' is inspired by how the colors almost weave in the leaves of the picture, and the small keyhole is because you do see holes when looking through the leaves of the tree.

Originally, I had a shawl or a coat designed since autumn might not exactly be the warmest of the seasons, but I decided we should focus on the dress itself. At least there are tights.

The belt and bracelet are inspired by the background where you can see the stairs near the bottom made of some... rock. Yeah, I thought it'd be interesting to incorporate it since a background is still an essential part of a photo, so the accessories are there to accentuate the dress.

The skirt's fairly simple. The top layer has an eyelet edge which is another 'example' of how the tree mostly blocks one's view and only gives a little bit of what's behind it. The second layer's there because if you look closely, you can see more trees in the background.

That's probably about it. I wanted to stick with the colors that people mostly expect of autumn (even though it's predictable) in case I use dark colors and people imagine winter (since it looks really cold in the photo actually... perhaps that's why I made a 'cold' looking person.) So in short, it's... fairly simple. Nothing hard to translate I hope.

The scarf's just there because autumn is a little cold. And there's gradation because of the colors of leaves changing during the season.

Yeah.

It's like Final Fantasy's Yuna vacationing in Pixie Hollow. The literal interpretation of the bust borders on costume but I do not think you pushed it into that costumey area so I think you showed excellent restraint. You used your colors well and you really pushed the envelope in your detailing. Wonderful work. I'm very impressed.

Haha, the first time I read this I thought you were telling me my design was horribly lame and I almost freaked out. XD And then I re-read it and realized I was being a huge retard.

Anyways, thank you for your comments, they are very informative. owo

lol, it's actually drawn using a template (perhaps I should mention that from now on), so I didn't exactly draw the legs.

Thanks though?

Haha, thank you, Kibou. o3o But, but, I keep thinking these designs are good enough.

In any event, your designs for clothes are spiffy, too. o3o *envious*
