Snow drifted softly to the ground, monsters had gone home hours ago, except Monster Kid who was sneaking out to go find Undyne. You stared out through the window, listening to Papyrus in the kitchen making some spaghetti for dinner. Standing up from the couch, you walked towards the kitchen and leaned on the frame, smiling slightly when you saw Papyrus adding something not edible to the sauce. He turned his head and smiled at you.

"AH, HUMAN! DO YOU NEED ANYTHING?”

You pointed towards the door with your thumb, “I was just going to let you know I was going to Grillbys. Sans isn’t home yet… He might have stopped there coming back from Alphys’ lab.”

Papyrus placed a gloved hand to his jaw and looked at the clock that was in the kitchen, “AH, NOW THAT YOU MENTION IT, HUMAN. SANS WOULD BE HOME BY NOW. WHILE YOU GO LOOK FOR HIM, I, THE GREAT PAPYRUS, WILL CONTINUE TO FINISH DINNER!”

You turned to leave, slipping on your (f/c) jacket and shoes before walking out of the door into the cold. You enjoyed the silence of the surroundings, but that didn’t get rid of the thoughts that were swirling in your head. It was odd that your boyfriend, Sans, wasn’t home by now. You knew that the distance between Snowdin and Hotlands without a boat was far, but it didn’t take him long to get home using his “shortcuts.”

Glancing up, you realized you made it to Grillbys, sighing, you opened the door and walked up to the counter. The seat Sans usually sat at was empty. Grillby looked at you (well you guessed that at least since you couldn’t see behind his glasses), you placed your hands on the counter and looked at the flame man.

“Hey Grillby, have you seen Sans?”

The fire man shook his head, “No, I haven’t seen him since this morning. Sorry.”

You smiled at him, “It’s okay. He hasn’t come home yet, so I thought I would come and check with you.” He nodded, and you turned on your heels and began to make your way back to the door. Once you exited the place, you leaned against the wall.

“Dang it, where are you Sans,” You whispered.

Sighing, you began to make your way back to the skeleton’s home, only to stop when your phone began to go off. You pulled it out and read the caller ID: Alphys.

“Hey Alphys,” you said into the phone.

“E-eh, oh… hey (y-y/n), I’m g-g-glad I could get a-ahold of you!”

“What’s going on?”

“I… well… you see… u-um… c-can you maybe by chance… um… c-c-come to my lab? Maybe a-as soon as you can?"

“Sure. Is everything okay, Alphys?”

“Uh… um… y-yeah! J-just peachy! But please… come as s-soon as you can… okay?”

You told her you would be there and hung up. Placing the phone in your pocket, you began to make your way to the river where a boat was that would take you straight to Hotlands. You couldn’t help but wonder what was going on. Alphys sounded upset.

Once you made it to Hotlands, you walked up to her lab and knocked on the metal door. It opened and there stood the yellow lizard woman. She was fiddling with her hands in front of her, sweat coming off her head.

“(Y/n)! I-I’m so glad you are h-here!”

You followed her in as she began to walk inside, “Okay, so what did you need me for Alphys?”

“Well… I k-know that you know that S-sans came over to h-help me w-w-with a project I have been working on for some t-time…”

She turned and pushed a button, causing metal doors to open. She walked into the room with you following her.

"We were testing it o-out… and…” she stopped, tears forming in her eyes, your heart seemed to stop.

You placed your hands on her shoulders, tears falling from her face, “Alphys, what happened?”

She covered her eyes with her hands, “I-it malfunctioned… f-fired off b-by itself… a-a-and… The beam hit a mirror and b-bounced off it… Sans… S-sans he…”

Your eyes welled up with tears, threatening to spill over, “No…”

“The b-beam h-hit him… a-and…,” she began to sob, falling to the ground onto her knees. You stood there, shocked. Tears began to streak down your face as you too fell to your knees and found yourself being held in Alphys arms, not realizing you were sobbing loudly.

Wiping your eyes, you pulled away from the woman and looked at her with sad (e/c) eyes, your eyes puffy and red, “Where…*sniff* Where is his d-dust…”

Alphys sighed and stood up, helping you up on your feet. She walked you to a part of the room and you nearly fell to your knees again when you saw San’s cloths piled on the floor in a heap. You couldn’t believe this was happening…

Walking over to the cloths, you clenched your fist holding back your tears… what was you going to tell Papyrus? He would be so devastated that his older brother was gone. You didn’t blame Alphys, the gun malfunctioned and the stupid beam bounced off a stupid mirror…

You knelt down to Sans’ cloths, and began to reach for his cloths to take them home along with his dust. But you stopped when the cloths began to move…

“What the fudge,” you yelled as you leaped back five feet and stared at the moving pile of cloths. Your (e/c) eyes widened at what you saw before you…
