Hi again!
This critique has been left on behalf of #Graphite-Gods as previously requested.
I was able to find the original photo used as reference here [link]
Firstly, I'll mention the green tinge on the drawing - I'm assuming this might be a camera fault as you have posted this drawing without the green tint elsewhere in your gallery. If it was deliberately added, I don't think it adds anything to the portrait (and your black and white versions of this are much superior).
I never checked whether the other versions were scanned versions. I'm concerned as this version was taken using a camera and that this may have caused some of the fine shading to have been lost.
An example of this is the shadows are missing below her eyes. The irises of her eyes also look too light and glassy, which might suggest some of the tone has been lost (Sophia Loren's eyes are not this light).
Structurally, you've done an excellent job in capturing the proportions of her face and in plotting her features accurately, this is very close to how she appears in the photo. Well done.
If we look at her complexion, there is very bright highlights on the nose and forehead in the drawing, and this highlight is more selective in the photo. The shadow under her fringe should fall lower. I suspect some of your fine shading has been lost in the forehead area as the brightness looks like it may have been caused by the camera's flash. It's useful to remember how Sophia Loren has a darker complexion, so you can feel more confident in adding tone to her face (should you draw her again).
There appears to be very little shadow on the lower part of her nose in your drawing and this is causing the nose to look flat. A bit of shading here would help us to understand the contours of the nose better.
I think you have tackled the lips quite well and caught their fullness, a trademark quality of Sophia Loren's face. The shadow below the lip has been captured well also and is important in making the lips appear 3-dimensional.
I notice the left collar detail is missing and you have simplified this area in leaving it out. For me, this detail is needed as the hair is very heavy and looks like it's touching the shoulder in your drawing, whereas it's clearer in the photo that this isn't the case.
You've handled the hair quite well on the whole and added your own interpretation of it, adding strands of hair which are not in the photo. If you compare the drawing with the photo, you'll see how adding strands can affect the texture of hair and make it seem coarser and more rigid, rather than soft and flowing. I think you have been quite selective in this and the hair still has soft areas.
I think you have done a good job in this portrait and it's pleasing to see the good range of tones in her hair. For me, I'd prefer to see more tone in her face (as previously mentioned), but your portrait still has a lovely luminous quality to it.

You're most welcome. You have definite skill, it's just a shame when technology prevents the drawing from being viewed at it's best.

I'm always amazed how a little bit of graphite and a mountain of talent can capture so much.
I know they are "just" marks on a paper ........ but there is life behind those beautiful eyes.
Congrats on producing an amazing piece of art.
