Working on a new visual style for Windows. I've never really found a nice clean and professional skin before, well.. there are a couple of really good ones like Luna Element and Gui.Air but they aren't quite what I'm looking for - so I've decided to start work on my own theme. Aiming for something similar to OS X style here, although adapted to Windows. This is a WIP shot and obviously elements will be changed/tweaked, but I would just like to get some feedback at this stage - is this a theme you might use yourself if I release it? Is it too cold - lacks color perhaps? If you like the theme - is there any element you would change/improve? Feedback most welcome - thanks

So far, I like what I'm seeing. Can't wait for the release. One small change I would personally make is to make the bottom left corner of the Start button square, and not round, as round ones usually look strange on my LCD.

Could use some color highlights. Def. blue or red. I like what dissembled said about making a version in black. Either black or a black & deep gray gradient. If you do, def. don't touch the window controls. Leave them silver for contrast. Then it would be badass.
Should also un-round the edges on the taskbar.
I LOVE the way you rounded the task buttons. It's like clicking tabs on Firefox. If I had any graphical talent I would have used a similar technique.

i recommend making the theme black. or maybe giving us a verision where black is an alternate substyle? black with the minimize/close buttons enclosed within the white box creates contrast, which imo, makes it very eyepleasing indeed. :cool:

Superb VS. Like you said, there aren't many professional looking v.styles. This is clean and the grey works. For use at the office, brighter colours wouldn't be suitable. A more compact task bar option would be good but not essential.

a skin for professional needs. luna element and XPMC are my favorites but you're right, not really what I was looking for neither. i made a very flat skin and most windows look like apple hardware when in use. WB gives nice shadows, etc something you can't achieve with just a plain style. you might get some ideas from my skin and i'd welcome the feedback as we both think alike. in fact, my next theme was going to focus on the warm grays much like you are.
i think the key to an apple look is to get rid of all the separators in menus, toolbars, etc. can't wait to try out your work and i'll post constructive criticism

I have been searching for a nice but simple style and finally found it here. Most of the other styles are so bloated. I need a nice style which sets the frame for working with windows. I don't need a style that irritates my eyes all the time. Therefor I used the original XP Luna style in silver. But over the years I can't stand it anymore.
Important: You brought a suggestion that obviously matched your imagination. So keep going your way and release it as we can already see it. There'll be enough people telling you "do this, do that...". Finally we'd have another pink style with another thousand buttons, exclusive fonts, unhandy menus etc. Simply spoken: that would just be another useless theme. We've got enough of that. So please release what you've shown us! That would be my theme. Simple, nice, clean. It's a perfect environment! That's what it makes it unique. Not another thousand useless "gimmicks". Greetings!

I totally agree with you! The overall quality of the visual styles is just so low. I also thought of making my own windows vs, but I guess you're making the ultimate one 
I hope you'll also include some other color schemes. Grey is just so emotionless and really overdone, I think. The design is truely nice, altough I like a little thinner taskbar better. Those upper right buttons are really dope! They give the VS life and seem more dynamic/natural.

If you could normalize the upper-right window buttons in the window-bar, it would be a very nice VS.

I like this VS, especially the min/max buttons.
However, in my opinion, the Windows logo is a little too large for the start button. And more colors will certainly be greater!

I agree with the other posters..a bit of colour would make it so much more usable, and the start button needs to be longer i think.
Also, im not a fan of that font, at all.
What happens to the taskbar windows when they are updated? do they flash a different colour or just "pop" in and out?
I find that styles where they change colour last longer with me, because i cant always notice when the tabs are updated if they stay the same colour.

I really like this VS, but as Chipalsa said, I would also like to see a minimal version with a thin taskbar, etc. Another color theme would be nice, too, maybe with some red. All in all, though, very good looking theme. Nice to see something other than Vista for a change.

Looks like you're putting togther exactly what I've been looking for. I love OS X but don't want Windows to look too much like it, just to look cleaner than it currently does. I'd also change the start button... maybe to fit in more with the close/minimise buttons?? So many themes skimp on the deeper OS dialogues (control panel, search dialogue etc.) so it would be awesome to see this style right through the OS. Can't wait to try this one out... beautiful work.
