Ah, a cat after my own tastes. Yeah, and I'd suggest hitting that spider with a shovel, a heavy boot, using the toe of said boot to grind it into the ground, step on it a few more times, douse it in gas or some similar combustible fluid, let it sit in case it also drowns it, then set it on fire, and once that goes out, hit it AGAIN. Spiders that big have to have made a direct pact with Satan or something.

this morning there was a spider approximately the size of the entire state sitting right by my car when I left today. OK that was a lie it was as big as my hand and it was giving me dirty looks. I'm afraid it will kill all the mews in my neighborhood because I know nothing about your southern spiders
WHAT IS THIS BEAST THAT HAS INVADED US?! Tonight I'm going home to do some hunting with hairspray and a lighter, just to be sure. XO Any mice you send will certainly be EATEN by the sumo spider

er...I don't know of any right off the top of my head. About the only ones I can recognize (I prefer to kill any insect/spider type creature which I find in my house anyway) are a black widow and a spinning spider. You'd think I'd have learned how to recognize a brown recluse by now, but I haven't.

The recluse and the widow are the only ones you have to worry about hurting your mews, b/c they are the only really poisonous spiders down here. Unless someone brought another type in on the boat. Anyway, if you see one of those two, just don't touch 'em. They don't usually bite anyone unless they're provoked (but you can always spray them with Raid or something from a distance. Then it's just death rain). Don't try and catch one like I did when I was a kid. I kept a black widow in a jar and it laid eggs which HATCHED and then I had 500 tinytiny black widows that scared the hell out of me so I drowned them in a creek.

It could have been a banana spider. >>; They're pretty scary. My friend had one about the size of her hand chilling out right above her kitchen window outside. They hit it with a shovel.
