Vision:
I feel that you are helping Star Wars fans visualize their imaginations. Of all the artwork I've seen featuring Mara Jade, I consider yours to be canon. Every-time I read a Star Wars book I invariably think, "How would wraithdt picture this?". That said, I've never really liked Mara-Jade's skin-tight clothing. I would have liked to see some more functional depictions of her clothes.
Originality:
The angle of the piece is a bit disappointing. To me it seems a bit staid. The side view angle of the hero has been used quite often, and feel that a more dramatic angle would have made the piece even stronger.
Technique:
I'm no professional artist, but I love the way you've done her hair and the glow of the lightsaber reflected on her goggles. Her expression is fantastically rendered. The background is vague enough to draw our attention to Mara, but I do wish there was a little bit more detail.
Impact:
Overall, this is a fantastic piece of Mara Jade. It is canonically correct, and beautifully done. It could have been more dramatically positioned, but I must also admit that that may not be the purpose of the piece.
I've favorited this piece, and wraithdt is on my watchlist. 'Nuff said.

Never actually read the novels.
But I always wondered what happened to that saber, and Episode 7 suggests that something nasty happened to the wielder before Rey. I hope Mara Jade gets assimilated into Disney-Lucas canon.

It is sad that, with the new timeline, we'll never get to meet Mara Jade in the movies.

This is a beautiful rendition of Mara.
Mara Jade is on of my favorite red heads of fictional history. I loved the dynamic between her and Luke. I hope that, like Thrawn, we can get her back in cannon.

We already have a heap of story about them from the original EU books, comics and games. Why do we care what retarded shit Disney comes up with? They couldn't write a complex story to save their lives.

Fantastic piece! The composition is just beautiful... My only qualm is that Mara Jade DOESNT EXIST ANY LONGER so many countless hours of reading those damned books thrown down the drain... oh well. They still exist in my mind... Eh-hem... anyways your art makes me sob to behold its glory.

I know how you feel, especially since it's been revealed that Disney had made a certain agreement back in 2012.
They had agreed, upon signing the deal to take on Star Wars, to use the EU novels, storylines, and characters as background for the new trilogy. As you no doubt know, they have reneged on their deal, so as far as I am concerned, they're an alternate timeline, and the EU books the true timeline.

If Disney had followed the EU novels the new trilogy would be a lot different. Here are a few reasons why...
1) Chewbacca wouldn't be around, he had died a few years earlier during the Vong War (squashed by a moon hitting a planet).
2) The New Jedi Order would be in existence, created by Luke.
3) The New Republic would now be the Galactic Alliance (Coruscant is the seat of power again).
4) Luke would be around, accompanied by his son, Ben Skywalker.
5) Han and Leia would have lost two of their three children, Anakin and Jacen. The surviving child is Jaina, Jacen's twin sister (Jaina killed Jacen when he turned and became Darth Caedus).
6) The Empire is now the Imperial Remnant, and has recentky signed a peace treaty with the Alliance.
7) The Sith are back.
8) Han never lost the Millennium Falcon.
9) Kylo Ren wouldn't exist, well, not as the film portrays him anyway (I won't explain in case there are people reading this who have yet to see the film).
10) Before his death, Jacen had revealed the truth of the Force. There is, in truth, no Dark and Light side, the Force is what the wielder makes of it.
The only reason I can think of why Disney didn't stay to their agreement is that they would have a lot of backstory to explain, and didn't want to go to the trouble.

Theres a lot more than that as due to the snowball effect. They could've at least kept it to the effect of the inevitable out come all the books had or just continued the story from where they left off. would've resulted in a lot more movies though i suppose the problem with that is George Lucas had originally planned for 9 movies in his 'space opera'. but cest le vi we are given the cards dealt. There are a lot of other books written that people consider part of the EU universe that are most certainly not. would you believe it that at the force awakens premier some doofus tried to convince me that your lightsaber color changes with how much passion/hate you have. Claimed he read it in a book. which if we are throwing out the literature all together here ill refer to the movies which on paper are the most cannon things you'll get. in episode three when darth vader and obi wan had their second to last fight on mustafar there was no Anakin Skywalker. He was now fully turned to the dark side. so you would think that his lightsaber would change to red (such poppycock). colors are obsolete. they only serve the purpose to signify what kind of jedi you are (i.e. green=diplomats/peace keepers, blue=warrior etc.) the crystal is what changes the color not your 'side'. The force is such a great and ambivalent force (hehe) that it wouldn't choose something as finicky as colors in which to manifest the evil or light. and suppose there are a species of aliens that are colorblind, as their natural ecosystem lacks enough light making colors obsolete. they maybe force sensitive creatures but what happens to their lightsaber? sorry for rambling. but point is as much as i wish they went by the book(s), a lot of people have distributed their own little stories into the world that one cannot be sure what is real and whats not real anymore. i guess it would've been too messy that way.

The official EU books kept a timeline that you could look at which included the films. No fan written stories were included. George Lucas endorsed the EU novels as official, with the first three named as the "official follow up trilogy". Disney DID agree to use the novels as backstory, but when the rights were finally signed over to them they decided not keep their word.
Lightsaber colours were decided by which crystal you chose (the force guided you in this regard). The Sith used artificial crystals (no force help), hence the red colour. In Rebels (which is now considered canon) Ashoka has white blades (she used to have green), which many see as new, but white blades were first used by the Imperial Knights in the Stars Wars Legacy comic book series. Purple crystals are hard to locate, but can be found by powerful Jedi. Following the destruction of the Jedi, Palpatine ordered "all known crystal" sources sealed or destroyed, hoping to prevent survivors rebuilding lost lightsabers, or taking secret padawans there. Luckily some locations were kept secret so survived.
Rebels is now going to have links to Episode 7, despite being set between episodes 3 and 4.
Alongside Episodes 8, 9, and 10, there will be a young Han Solo film (which will disregard any backstory novels already written), and the Rogue One film, which is set before Episode 4. If the new trilogy does well, the saga will continue with Episodes 11, 12 and 13, and more standalone films, and quite possibly a live action series.
