Story of the photo: I had great fun, when I was watching the kitty. It was playing with its mommy, jumping through large and natural exhibit. The cub seemed very happy, healthy, active and curious. Its interesting face markings create an illusion of a permanent smile

Name: Caracal (caracal caracal)
Location: bushes from India to South Africa
Size: 65 cm long body + 30 cm long tail weight: 18 kg
Diet: hyrax, hares, smaller antelopes, rodents, birds
Conservation status: Least Concern
Interesting facts: word “caracal“ has its origin in Turkish words, which mean “black ear“ | caracal is relative to lynx | caracal can survive long time without water, using only liquid from its preys | caracal usually hunts during night or during colder day | mother gives birth to two cubs, she moves them very often to new places to protect them from predators | caracal can run very fast. They also hide their prey on the trees as leopards do | caracal used to be domesticated
