Reminds me of my childhood games... Imagination is a kid's most valuable toy.

Absolutely. Capturing the spirit of childhood is really important to me in these sorts of images. I really try to put myself back in that frame of mind, which is fun to do just by itself!

I like the leaves in the background, I'm lovin' the colours and feel to it even more! Although I do love your animal renditions more. By the way, how do you outline your linearts?

Thank you! Dark wet-in-wet washes are always really scary, so I'm glad the leaves turned out all right.
Humans vs animals is always tricky, as we are so much more familiar with people it's much easier to get them wrong. You can play around with animals a bit more, I find, as in general people aren't quite so familiar with their anatomy.
My general procedure is to draw everything, then outline with a very fine rigger brush and sepia ink (sometimes a sepia/burnt sienna mix if I want the outline to be warmer and lighter), then paint, then re-ink in places to add depth.

I'm very pleased to hear that. I know it's awfully ambitious, but all I want to create is images that make people sigh and think of golden, happy childhood days.
