Excellent piece, you really have a Kinkadian style to your lighting effects. Just by looking at this, I'd swear there's still an old gatekeeper who lives there...crooked flooring and all.

I love the lighting, colours and details. However, shouldn't the lightbeam from the lighthouse be a lot longer, or at least end less abruptly? I'm not entirely sure how it should be changed, but I remember from going to vacation on an island in my childhood that it looks slightly different

Everytime it challenge for me. This technique is called mattepainting. Many pieces of photos + some drawing + interesting light and colors so... And very important flip image during all process to find all mistakes in perspective and lighting.

Yes I know about mattepainting, I was learning a bit before - but mostly for film. This looks like it has some sort of oil painting to it.. the lighting is great.
