I'm on the same boat. Even worse, when Bruce Timm's JL/A was happening, I was completely out of comic books so I didn't care much what was happening. BMWW was vomit inducing, but whatever. Everything that had Superman back at the time, like Smallville or Superman Returns, if I didn't enjoy it, no problem, I forgot about it the next day.
Now they atracted me back with the Superman/Wonder Woman pairing in the new52... just to destroy it for BvS. I got emotionaly invested in those characters. If it wasn't for SMWW I wouldn't have discovered Grant Morrison's Superman and Azzarello's Wondy. I only decided to get these comics because of SMWW.
I got late into the party, and then, just as I was starting... The news that Ben Affleck was making chemistry tests with Gal Gadot. This really put a spanner in my enjoyment, because there was a very real possibility of them destroying the pairing when BvS appeared. And that's what happened.
They killed the Supes that I liked the most. Poisoned, gave him cancer, turned him into dust. Diana was 'metamorphed', she didn't even mourn him.
What they did was one of the most putrid things in the story of fiction. This whole Snyderverse, it's rotten, I just want to forget it exists and get the same detached mindset I had before the SMWW book.
They could at least let us keep the 52 versions of the characters as alternate universe, not even that. I don't believe in a Batman/Superman friendship, it doesn't exist since DKR. Putrid and disgusting.

Bless you. As far as I'm concerned Bruce Timm got a lot of things right with the Animated Series in the early 1990's, giving it the seriousness from the 1940's but also the modern stories and even more important some great stories and characters. The late 1990's and 2000's started to become more flawed. I've come to understand BMWW a little bit, but only a little bit. Both are trained warriors, have a similar temperament and very smart, but their personalities are so different - opposites attract but not these two. I think Timm has such a love for Batman he wanted to - paraphrasing the words Sin City character - toss him girls like Diana. I didn't like it either. Smallville was flawed but it had its moments, same with Superman Returns.
I loved SMWW in New52 as well.Β
Rumor flew that Gal Gadot, Olga Kurylenko and Elodie Yung were up for the role of Bruce Wayne's love interest. For a moment I thought it was Talia, but when it turned out to be Wonder Woman, I thought they were joking about the love interest bit, but I did get that feeling in promotional materials.
Awful, just awful.
Remember the comics are different from the movie universe, but it would appear that Snyder has a similar love for Batman that Bruce Timm had... plus - I believe, a major dislike for Superman.
They should have, he even had a wedding ring for her. Superman and Batman could be friends, remember Earth-2 stories were really good with them, but yeah its like all they want is to show conflict between heroes.

I've read spoilers, spoilerish reviews, seen spoilerish fanarts from the Wondy movie. It seems to be aΒ heartfelt and sincere movie, and the Steve/Diana romance seems genuine. If they found a way to have Steve in the present as Diana's love interest (Non-Spoilers:Remember that WW1 was 100 years ago and he's not immortal) maybe I'd even consider watching these movies. At the very least I wouldn't barf every time I stumble on information about this universe in the coming years. But nothing will ever justify killing the 52 versions of Clark and Diana.
