Description Well I usually draw wolves (yea I know the head looks like one) but I thought that I would change it up a little. I started drawing and several hours later I was very pleased and happy with the results. Any comments or hints would be greatly appreciated. I have a long way to go and a lot to improve on but I am trying If you do want to use this as a tattoo please tell me. One of my dreams is to see on of my pieces of art as an actual tattoo

The only issue I can see is the positioning, which is a nitpick, and that's as simple to fix as cutting off the top edge of the paper. Maybe add some detail inside the wings, too. It's a great design, though.

The positioning I agree was off a little. I do think that if I had added more detail to the wings that it would actually make them look worse. If I had drawn the wings in flight or something I totally would.

I got the pens from a bookstore at my school and the camera is a Canon EOS Rebal T2i.

How do you do pieces like these???

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

WolfBaltoDog In reply to Scr1b3 [2013-03-17 06:21:04 +0000 UTC]

trial and error and practice. I usually do a simple outline with pencil then I do detailing and the final product with pens.

But how do you know where each specific shape should go, without ruining th overall effect?

I have looked at many different styles and designs of tribal and you just have to try different things. I try and follow a basic bone structure and go from there. I can't actually tell you exactly how I know what goes where because I don't know exactly how I do it myself. I just go with the flow and it looks right I build off of it.

If I was you I would take a look at other peoples art. There are so many different ways to do it and there are a lot of good artists out there. You should buy some good pens. I like a good gel pen for filling things in. Trace out the design in pencil (it gives you an idea what it will look like). The biggest thing is practice. Don't get discouraged at the beginning and you will do fine. Best of luck to you. If you have any more questions don't hesitate to ask.
