Except its not abstract facial art. This is a large scale fad by the gmod and SFM community, and its been done over and over, and not for artistic purposes but different ones. If this was actually what I would personally classify as "Art" the first key thing would be the audience. The SFM and Gmod community has seen this sort of thing numerous times, as I already mentioned. And, while this is on personal opinion, its rather overdone, if this was something outside of Gmod, SFM, TF2 or anything like that I would look at it with a different eye.
