The final moment in Alfred Hyde's life (Alfie), 1930. He was killed by his assistant, Ronald, causing him to lose all his fame for his ink blood descovery. When he was pushed into the ink chamber, he drown, causing the scars on his face to fill in with black ink.
He was later found be his wife, Xara

I got a question. What is that ink chamber for? What could he possibly do with all that ink? I know he drowned in it (hence the jackass lurking behind him) but what was it's true purpose?

Ohh, there is a purpose. The ink acts as a substitute for blood, meant for those he chose to inject it in, causing their life span to double. (Or so he thinks. This theory is later proven true because of his ghost, stuck between the two worlds)
So it's basically a medical discovery xDD
