Oh that's awesome! I have recently learnt about Cernunnos while drawing that picture! I'm always a sucker for anything hunting or woodland related 

Actually, this character has a spirit in their world that he worships that's very similar to Cernunnos. He comes out every Bloodmoon, and whomever can track and hunt him down successfully will be granted some sort of wish 8D

Ah really, now?  So cool that you've taken an interest in learning more about him for the sake of the illustration!

And, yeah, the idea of a Cernunnos-type archtype is actually very common! Deities that are similar are the Gods Herne and Pan, but you also see a lot of of fictional ones in books, movies, and video games. One such one is Hercine from the Elder Scrolls! Again, it's just a very common archtype. c;

Also, so sorry for the somewhat late reply! I usually get back on messages within a day or so, but my inbox has been really full this week and I've been busy with school! I finally had a moment to sit down and go through this week's messages and I've already answered about 200 things before this one! lol

ahah thanks! I've been really interested in Celtic stuff as of lately, so I also love doing research about anything for the sake of an illustration! Even if it my studies doesn't show in the picture, it's comments like these that really get me happy! 8D 

And actually, Hircine is my most beloved favorite character from the Elder scrolls series! Morrowind was a HUGE part of my childhood, and I would play the bloodmoon expansion pack over and over again just to see Hircine! xD I guess I'm just a sucker for any sort of hunter archetype. I think that's what really got me into hunting!
