fullview ^_^ok.... doing that stuff for ikasucon is all well and good, but HOLY COW i needed to draw some good real-ish stuff when i was done... there is such thing as too much anime. i just about had an overload.
sorry....... hope that wasn't offensive to anyone. >___>doodles from photos of my friends.

wow, thanks! YES.. the anime craze. i was in that for a couple years, arg! it is hard to get out of! BUT a great way to get out of an anime fix and greatly improve your drawing in general is to go the realistic route. as in, really learn the human figure, for real.
i was told this method by an animator from blue sky- it helped me, maybe it'll help you- look on the internet for the book "figure drawing for all it's worth" by andrew loomis. it's out of print, but you can find scans of all the pages online.
once you find the pages, go through and just rote copy them. don't put your style on it, just look and draw and match him best you can. the book goes all through the construction of the figure, muscles and perspective and EVERYTHING. it is AMAZING. just read and copy- you learn so much.
i tell people that all the time, but it's true, it does help your drawing in awesome ways. and once you learn to draw things realistically and correctly, it's so easy to cartoon it- into ANY style. all styles are based on reality. you learn reality, you can do whatever you want. ^___^

Offense not taken, but still there... somewhere in the drawings, still an anime gesture, maybe in the faces or the hands. It doesn't matter really in fact the thumbnail looked like somethin from Lain's character designer, Yoshitoshi Abe.
So keep it up!

i think its great as well. I love realism... especially a blend like this. Leycuervo is right, that there is a small influence of anime, but i think that some of the exaggerated stances and gestures in anime makes figures more interesting. it gives it a sort of comic stylization

I love to look at sketchbooks. There's a freshness and vitality that is missing from many finished pieces. I guess it's a trade off in some respects. Nice, polished art vs. dynamic, unfinished essence.
There is, of course, a lot of Anime influenced artwork around, and I really don't mind as long as it is well done, lol! Yours is well done! That being said, I do understand how you feel about it.
I like all the different poses and faces on this sketch page. You seem to have a knack for figures, and are very adept at capturing the personality behind the visage.

i know... when i look through my textbooks at paintings and drawings by the old masters, i often find i like the preliminary study drawings even better than the paintings themselves. and more often than not i like my drawings better than finished paintings. 
i don't mind anime so much, and i really like anime that is more realisticially styled, like witch hunter robin and bleach. there's just something about eyes that take up half a character's face that unsettles me. >__>

Some excellent observational sketches. I still have a long way to go before I can sketch anatomy as well as I'd like ^_^
I like the way your style seems to flow so naturally. I often find my lineart feels too 'forced'.

aw... ok, here's a tip. search on the internet for scans from "figure drawing for all its worth" by andrew loomis. (you can't buy it anywhere, it's out of print) if you go through and just copy-draw all the pictures in that book, you'll get TONS better. it just takes some patience.
