Description For the beginning of the new year I've decided to start a new mini-series of fashions, but this time around I am going to focus on my Fooled story and redesign the wardrobe of the kingdom's reigning fashionista, Princess Lucia!

This was always my favorite outfit from my 2013 costume sheet , but for some reason I only drew it that one time!  It was a lot of fun to draw it again and I found I didn't need to change much at all, with the main difference being a better design for the boots.  My original idea for this ensemble is that the green skirt was actually an overskirt to a longer red dress, which got torn during the chaos near the end of the story and allowed Lucia to be more active.  I was largely inspired by this painting by Carlo Crivelli for the color palette and  golden "jacket" (really just the bodice of the dress in the original).  As for the skirt, when I designed this outfit in 2013 high-low hems were all the rage, and they also happened to be a nice counterpart to the way medieval ladies often lifted ther skirt hems in period in artwork.  Lucia wears this outfit in chapters 17 and 18 - although I don't think her skirt gets torn until chapter 19.

Don't miss the rest of Lucia's wardrobe:

I think I like this one the best. She looks very confident and ready for some butt-kicking for sure.

Thank you, it is my favorite too!  I think teal is Lucia's power color.  ^_^

Welcome, and I agree, color-wise!

Medieval? Not how I picture it. (not like me to quibble with you, normally!)

Okay, this is your fantasy, but I have to take issue with the high heals. (When *did* they come in, BTW?) A classic trope of all superheroes, and also the absolute worst thing for anyone to wear who is seriously planning some arse-kickery. High-heals would be a major liability in *any* fight!

Also the cut of the skirt and the exposed legs. (Better for fighting/adventuring, for sure) but I accept the tights underneath (men's clothing).
Would they be more baggy, though? Spandex came a bit later.

In regards men's clothing and the women who got into it down through history, let's face it - it's made for adventure, war, and scrambling around on ships/building/etc. I suggest she also has a clothing set based on that.
Cheers.

Well like I said in my other descriptions Lucia (and the Fooled universe) wasn't supposed to be historically accurate, I just included links of some of the historical images I referenced when designing her clothes.  If you were to read the story you'd actually find there's a moment the high heels come in very handy!

I'm so interested in your original series! I love your character designs! They look like from a Disney movie, and I bet it'll be awesome if it is made into a movie. Lucia's Battle outfit looks super cool! You nailed the historical part yet simplified it so that it's suitable for cartoons. Well done!

Thank you, I loved working on their designs.  Lucia's Battle outfit is definitely my favorite even if it's a little bit more fantasy.
