I wish I could afford all those fancy tools. It looks so realistic! I'm planning on sketching my dog. Any tips on drawing fur?

What fancy tools? Mechanical pencils? Anyways, thank you very much! Can't think of anything special, just follow the direction of fur.

Well first of all I need to get some blending stumps. Those aren't too expensive though. Sometimes I just break the tip off a pencil and use the wood to blend with.

WickedIllusionArt In reply to Zuko2015 [2016-01-08 00:35:50 +0000 UTC]

Lol, this is like the first time I actually used one for tiny part of the drawing after years of my pack of 3 collecting dust. I generally never blend as part of my style (there are rare exceptions and almost exclusively just the background), but I'm thinking of doing it from time to time on actual drawing in the future if I think it would improve the final result considerably.

For blending you can use stuff you usually already have in your house: cotton buds, toilet paper, make up removal cotton pads, fingers if you know what you're doing, self-made paper tortillon sticks etc.

Thank you very much! Believe it or not, but then I'm drawing it, the paper seems huge, you kinda get lost in it.

What do you mean by indenting tool?

Hey, thank you. You must have spent time setting up all these tools and describing them.
On my side I tried several tools too, the one that I kept for indenting so far is a 0.3 mechanical pencil slightly bent because it fell from my desk So I recycled it
No  indenting tool used on my last drawing BTW

What I like most about this drawing is not its beautifully balanced values and the impeccably drawn fur, but the lack of a text wall in the artist's comment listing all its nonexistent flaws. Keep up the great work and hang on to that confidence. x

Now that I overcame the shock of receiving a first comment in years from you on my work (that I remember), I can reply: thank you VERY much, it means a lot!

Merry Christmas!

This is so irrelevant. People post their artworks to get feedback and not some dodgy spam websites

Don't bother replying them, just one of countless spam accounts, already reported the comment.

Thank is one fucking awesome card! You can render various types of fur excellently on such small scale! (One day I will grow the balls to ask you for a trade for sure! *-* ) Oh and I hope you'll enjoy Christmas time

WickedIllusionArt In reply to kailavmp [2015-12-25 03:40:18 +0000 UTC]

Thank you so much! I don't remember the last time I drew fur (if we don't count dead animal's fur GoT characters wear as part of their clothing...) so my wish is to get much better at it, hopefully start with the practice next year.

Oh, I see you got a spam-flagged reply for this comment- did it come from my account by chance or something? Just checking to make sure that my acc is not hacked or I don't know... But that would definitely be unpleasant. :/ Anyway, I just wanted to say that you humble yourself too much, add that I highly doubt that I am the only one looking forward to see more of your animal related works (and miniworks)!

No, no don't worry, that was a spam from newly created spam account and I flagged the comment.
