Lin is the best. I do have some issues with how they've portrayed the female characters, in that a lot of their stories revolve around their relationships with male characters. i do hope that they make that better next season

Huh, I never thought of it that way. I was thinking that they would have been extraordinarily alike because they're both so...tough. But you're right, they have totally different views on respect for authority.
I wonder if Toph was around during Lin's breakup with Tenzin. How would the two have handled it? I'm sure it was extremely painful for Lin (since she's still not over it). Would she have opened up to her mom? Would Toph show a more sympathetic side to comfort her daughter?

yeah, they are alike in a lot of ways, but their views on the rules differ hugely. i think they would have a really interesting dynamic.
hmmm if she was, then i imagine that she would have been really supportive of Lin. Lin would try to pretend like she was fine and nothing was wrong, but Toph would know better, but she wouldn't say anything until Lin was ready to talk. and yeah, i think she would comfort Lin if that's what Lin needed.

Given Lin's discipline, I bet Toph had a pretty easy time raising her (though if there were disputes, both would have been pretty stubborn and strong willed). If anything Toph probably tried to get her daughter to lighten up.
Now I'm imagining them clashing over police matters. Toph would probably be more likely to work with the shadier folks of Republic City to get information and such, while Lin probably has a zero-tolerance policy and refuses to work with criminals.
Yeah I like your take on Toph supporting Lin. hehe I wonder if she'd make a crack about "twinkle toes" Tenzin.

oh gosh, yeah, their fights would be a thing to see. i bet they got into huge arguments over things. and yes, i can so see Toph telling Lin that she needed to stop being so serious all the time.
i agree. Lin would not tolerate even the pettiest of criminals, but Toph would probably be willing to use them as informants.
