...The City of Blinding LightsTsubasa Hane sits deep within the City of Blinding Lights. I don't know if this will ever actually be a part of the story or not, but I like it regardless.
Heavily inspired by one of Sugisaki Yukiru's pieces. It was the second page of the inside cover of Candidate for Goddess volume 5. Really this was an experiment to see if I could duplicate the effects she had used on her picture. I could, more or less (it's not perfect but then it wasn't supposed to be exactly like hers. I emulated, not copied). I liked what I came up with and played around with it a little bit more, and this is what resulted.
I was going to include lyrics (or at least some of them) from the U2 song, "City of Blinding Lights" (for which this story is named. Yes, I obsess) but they took away from the rest of the picture, so I didn't.
So, uh, yeah. I may yet make a poster out of this for my room, I dunno though. Depends on if I produce something I like more.
And remind me to go easy on the lines (or not to use them at all) the next time I try this. << >> I don't like the lineart.

When I do digital media, I usually use photoshop elements 2.0, though I need to swap back and use Arcsoft photostudio more, I think. Some of the effects on that are really interesting. It's not the best program (neither is elements, though, when compared to 7.0 or something) but it can pull of some sweet effects when I need it to.

wow. wow. wowowow. this pic is great! the way you shaded makes it look very 3d. very dramatic lighting effects!!!
My only suggestion would be to shrink it to about 70% this size. it doesnt fit in my browser and ruins the effect.

And I don't think City of Blinding Lights is going to be a story. The Lit Mag told me to make it a graphic novel, so it;ll probably end up being a graphic novel. THough I might do both, a written story and a comic...
