At long last, some brand-new artwork being uploaded for a change, and this time for a very special cause! This picture was made as a birthday gift for my friend the lovely *RenaTurnip , a talented pony pixel-artist (she made the charming avatar I am currently using, in fact) and a genuinely kind person on top of that. She has something of a soft spot for Lyra, a pony who I have been meaning to draw for ages now anyway, and also for the fanfiction "Background Pony" which I wanted to give a nod to (despite having not read the story myself, and also my desire to draw a nice cheerful Lyra), so I hope she will enjoy this even if it is a couple of days late at this point.So yes, Happy Birthday my dear!

I think it would be cool if you did a matching pose for Bon Bon, with similar posing. She could have a similar expression or a "Bon Bon is not Amused " look.

I'm so glad you like the picture, and I did certainly enjoy making it for my friend so perhaps that shows through in the finished product! I have always enjoyed Lyra's design and ponies in hooded sweaters appear to be charming by default. In any case, thank you so very much again for the nice compliments, I appreciate it!

Does Deviantart have a program for art, or do you have to use your own program?

deviantART offers muro as a creative option I do believe, but as for me, all of my pony-artworks that have been done to date have been made in Paint Tool SAI. It's an excellent program, I highly recommend it.

My pleasure! You can download it for a free trial for a month's time (or possible even two months, I forget) to test it out and see how you like it, and even if you do decide to buy it it's very reasonably priced, especially when compared to most other art programs.
