Contest entry for

I'm uploading this piece now instead of upon my return mid-Nov. because I wish for it to be submitted before the deadline of October 25.

The description of said contest was to draw Danny Fenton/Phantom in a Halloween costume, could be drawn as an anime character, original character, what have you. I chose to dress him up as Spike from a favorite TV show of mine, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, of course. (Note: Title is a play on William the Bloody, also known as Spike.)

Danny's sporting blue eyes, white hair, and pale skin because a) Spike has blue eyes, b) Spike has white hair, and c) Spike's quite pale. I added the glow around Danny and the pumpkin 'cos it added more to the spookiness. He nor the pumpkin are going ghost, I assure you. As for the pointed ear, it makes him look more vampireish. *shrugs*

I'm lovin' the bats in the background along with the dark grey wall. Everything works together to make this quite a nice Halloween pic, if I do say so myself. As for the coloring, usually I avoid using black as it's not the easiest to highlight and/or shade, but what's Spike without his black gear, right?

The style of this is a bit of my own mixed with DP, as I'm sure you can see. Now, the pose is slightly mine but more so inspired by a picture of James Marsters as Spike. He was wearing this outfit (the shoes were black and hard to see detail-wise, so I made them up here), and since I can't draw leather jackets for crap, I didn't include it. Also, if I had drawn the jacket, more highlighting hazards with black and having to try and separate the jacket from the shirt would've come into play; I'm not about to deal with that, mates.

That's all, I reckon.
