Hey, Any advice on scanning black inks and making them more presentable?

Wow, I think everyone does this step differently. So while my steps are not the definitive way of doing it, it's what I've found that works for me. I usually scan all my lineart in grayscale and open in Photoshop. Convert to RGB, adjust Curves (the best way to describe this is to slowly form an S until your blacks are near solid and grays have gone almost white, but be careful, too much and you'll ruin it). Then I mess with brightness/Contrast (optional) and the last thing I do is go to filter and use Smart Sharpen to try and smooth out the lines a tad bit. Hope that helps.

That is awesome! I have a Batgirl sketch card that i've done the lineart for that I need to scan tonight...my issue is that with my normal process, everything looks more saturated and lines appear thicker...
YAY!
Thanks sir...

It makes sense! I should pay you to give me photoshop lessons. I'm starting my webcomic soon and would love to do in color but I'm only a traditional artist...

I should use Crayons! My son has a MASSIVE TUB...If the piece was larger, I bet I could pull it off...

Heck yes you should color it...and then sell it to me! This is gorgeous! I love the expression on Rogue's face.
