Love it ! The art is excellent! The lancer must be magical to walk around in armor all day. It must allow him to hide his weapons as well. So what is in the vagabond sack ?

He's a bit on the magical side, and about his weapon... you'll have to wait to find out.

At last I have some time to talk about this page and knowledge enough to say something interesting. You know I love your work, Wes, but there are some problems on this page that are a nuisance to fully enjoy a comic.
First of all, I think you've tried to explain too much in only one page (what it's too little space), which causes the important things to remain spread around without importance. I think that arrival to the castle would be much interesting being a long vignette that goes almost a third part of a page.
(Examples from Long John Silver, -Xavier Dorison, Mathieu Laufray, Blueberry - J.M Charlier , Jean Giraud; Asgard - Xavier Dorison, Ralph Meyer )

Also, your color it's evenly distributed, and it's all realistic. Do not think in comic as a succession of perfect and fully rendered artwork. Most of the vignettes can benefit if you remove the background and put different and non-realistic color to make an impact on the reader.
(Examples from Asgard - Xavier Dorison, Ralph Meyer ; Lune Lenvers, -Blutch ; Portugal - Cyril Pedrosa; Unastoria - GIPI )

Finally, you've not played with points of view. Think in comic as a movie, were you have low-angle shot, high-angle, Bird's eye, Close-up...try always to have an establishing shot or long shot, a medium and close-up to have diverse points of view and to get a non boring page.

Have I mentioned how brilliant you are recently?

Pretty good for a first page I'd say! If this were a story, it's often best to start with a little bit of an introduction in one way or another before you begin revealing the overarching plot. So with that in mind, I say this is an excellent first page! Definitely looking forward to more when you get to them~

Being this your first shot at a comic, I think you did a great job! My first ever comic page (about a billion years ago... nobody saw it but my parents ) wasn't already this good.
Since this is your first page, may I give you a small suggestion?
When you design a page (in terms of panels) I would suggest you to do it over a "9 cells cage"... in other words, divide your canvas/page in 9 equal parts (It's not mandatory to do it with a ruler, your eye is usually enough): with such a base structure will be much easier to get an optimal panel diviion per page.
It's commonly accepted that 9 panels is about the maximum you should have per page, because the more panels there are, the more these panels are going to be small, making your page more difficult to read (and more difficult to draw for you).
Of course that's not an unbreakable rule, sometimes 10 or even 12 panels could be ok, but I would suggest you to apply this "9 or less panels per page" thing.
I hope my comment won't offend you, I'm not trying to be naggy or to nitpick, I really like your works.

I'm not offended. In fact, I appreciate the advice. In this case, I know that it's well-intentioned. Sorry that it took me so long to reply. Being a grown-up sucks sometimes.

Well thanks, and yeah, it will be a web comic. I took an old storyboard and wasn't paying attention when I revived it. Everyone has noticed that there's simply too many panels on the page, which was a thing I noticed before even posting it. Thankfully, people seem to be enjoying it in spite of that.

I love the artwork. Clean, crisp, and colorful without too much clutter.

Awwh so the orc didn't turn into a kawaii orc lady? now I'm sad XD haha. Was it an orc btw? I can't remember what you said XD But ya know what I mean haha. I like the fact that you've done your own play of a knight's journey story. I can sense some plot twists coming. Speaking of which, how brilliant would it be if the green lacer took off their helmet and revealed what they looked like, and in doing so revealed themselves as a woman haha. Very cool style in this as well btw. You did a lot with lines here and it worked out really well [=

Yeah, I'm going to work on that in terms of the font/placement and panel organization in general. It's less the script and more that the page is simply too large. There are way too many panels for a single page. I'll definitely be fixing that mistake with the next installment.

I agree. I'll be honest; the fact that the competition was an arm wrestle kind of escaped me. It rather blends in with what's going on around it.

lol, I remember coming up with this like three years ago - it was an old, lazy storyboard I dredged up and resurrected. I put new writing over the top of what's happening, but let's be real; it's sorta lame. Again, future stuff will be much better.

I dunno, for a one shot this seems like an interesting premise. I love tales of chivalry and knightly travels, myself, and this seems like just the comic to get my fill of that. I hope you continue this.

Oh, I definitely will. I have big plans for this universe, but it's not going to be my main focus for a while.
