I made it a space combat MS.
You saw the Sandrock kai in GW (when they made it ready for space combat)? I think that was pathetic. It really seems to me that they didn't spent much time working on new designs for the gundams.

I don't like simplicity - I like Sandrock's design though - but I still think it could be more detailled.

fs.: I took details from all Sandrock versions I've ever seen, also the SD Sandrock's- but also from other Gundams like the GP02a and the Nu Gundam.
And after all I can't see a similarity between Sandrock and Sandrock custom either.
Oh ... and I think that the Sandrock zero here is very similar to Sandleon custom (more or less a massproduced Sandrock) from "GW: Tiel's impuls".

Sandrocks design IS simplicity. You've lost the mechs heart and soul in favor of blood and death and "Bad-ass" qualities. This thing hurts my eyes to look at it, it's the kind of horror you'd expect a bad guy to use, and lose badly with.

I'm not saying this is shoddy art work, it's actually very detailed. I'm saying it's a shoddy concept, your idea work is poor. This mech is designed entirly around looking bad ass while standing still.

It looks like it will tangle itself up in its own rigging. And the guns, Sandrock has at most used a single machine gun, that's all it needed. It was badass BECAUSE it didn't have a big gun, or some cool folding dragon arm, or the ability to turn into a jet.

You're suffering from a design overload here. You're putting too much on a mech that wasn't built for this much junk. Here is a pic that perfectly illustrates your problem. Courtesy of :iconyenvalmer:

Here, you want some good concepts. This guy can draw a mech, and he can design a mech, and make it look cool with only a single gun, or none at all.

Sandrock had one gun originally. And that was only after it went into space.

It's piloted by a pacifist for Christ's sake!

I kind of agree with you that he's lost sight of the heart of the Sandrock Gundam here - but in his defense, there's no actual blood on it, and Gundams basically, you know, are 'death machines'. And it does have the shotels.

I mean lighten up, mate, it's a concept picture, and the artwork /is/ bloody brilliant (no pun >.> ). There's no need to get on his case like that when all you have to do is go look at something else, like your friend's pictures. =}

I see your point, and the art IS good. It just feels like bad fan-fiction, the way it looks here. But hey, I've seen worse, so I can't complain too much.

I suppose you could chalk it up to my narcissism?

Mecha's aren't supposed to have a heart or a soul. They are machines and the more bad ass they are, the better the Mech is (This is MY opinion).

How can you tell? The Sandrock Zero already has a qiet long design line (or whatever) because the first time i drew a sandrock zero is already 3 years ago. - And with every time i redesigned ít, I was thinking about ideas to bring it closer to invincibility.
And this pic alone - It took me nearly a month to finsih it.

Wouldn't it be stupid now if I came up and say :" Hey, ok, next time I'll try to draw a mech exactly like

If I weren't content with my own style, I would've already changed it.
fs.: Everybody has his very own ideals when it's about drawing - whatever - and I won't change mine - If my style changes itself over the years, maybe to something I would never expect right now, it's ok.

YOU aren't the one who drew it , YOU aren't the one who was thinking about details and weaponsystem for hours - So DON'T tell me that MY pictures are missing soul or whatever.

Ye know... If you told me that this and that about the picture (proportions or whatever) were wrong , than that would be okay.
But no, you tell me that it's missing soul... I mean... hey... crazy?

However... the last post of yours made this whole discussion nothing but a childish conflict:
